#1zombiegleemaxJan 22, 2004 21:08:33 | I have recently combined the Dragonlance Campaign Setting into the Kingdoms of Kalamar world setting. This provides the richness of a well thoughtout campaign world combined with all the glitz and glammer of the orders and races which make Dragonlance so exciting. I have done this so that it is "fresh" for the players and hasn't already had all the epic stuff done by historical NPCs as in DL. The Kalamarian book provides great details on towns etc... which can be easily be modified with DL components (throw in a few handfuls of Kender... some crazy Gnomes; Wizards of High Sorcery etc...) By doing this it is also tells the players that by reading the published books then expecting to metagame won't work. AND it saves me the complete hassle of building my own world. This may not appeal to the die hard Dragonlance fan... but I'm the DM so if they don't like it they can just play somwhere else! What do you think community? |

I like it. : ) I agree it would have a different feel from a regular Dragonlance campaign...but this is a good way to avoid a lot of work....just make sure you keep your facts straight on what is true in your world (what you take and what you don't take from both settings...and what you add in yourself). -Drachasor |

PLAYER: "I thought you said there was a gnome community here last time...?" DM:...errr The olny difficulty I see in the amalgamation, is the deities. How I'll manage that, I'm not quite sure. Perhaps I'll keep both but make the Kalamarian gods secondary or background things...? Also place names and knightly orders such as Solamnic Knights. There is no Solamnia in Kalamar. Mabe I'll rename a state in the world. I don't want to rename the order as it doesn't sit right. |
