#1talinthasJan 29, 2004 11:01:43 | So my game involves people from claran elian who've never seen the mainland of ansalon before. It is set right before the chaos war. The premise is that the dark knights invaded the island, and though they were repelled, the leadership of the island sent the PCs out to find out who these knights were, and stop them somehow. the party was ported to ansalon, and after a bunch of adventures, stopped an army of brutes from ravaging Pt. Balifor. Now here's the scenario for the end of my campaign. In the army camp, they find a prison train with one of their countrymen in it. This dude was acting like a spy on the BBEG, and discovered that the KoT had learned of some artifact that would help turn the tide of the war in their favor, and allow for utter domination of krynn. Obviously, the PCs need to stop this. The artifact is located in a flying citadel, cause those are cool and properly climactic =) Now here's where the plea for assistance comes in. The party is currently in pt. balifor. Where should the citadel be, and how should i get them there? and what artifact is sufficiently cool enough to fit? I was thinking having it float over the blood sea, and involve raising the tower of high sorc in istar, or something with dragons, or...? This is going to be the final sessions of my 4 year campaign, so i'm trying to make it good =) |

Well, lets see... you can just make them travel from Port Balifor to Flotsam and from there take a ship, but that's a bit mundane I suppose. Considering they have to fly you might as well just have them rescue a metallic dragon (or maybe two young dragons) from an attack of a Evil dragon of the Desolation and for their assistance the dragons agree to fly them to the citadel. 3. What artifact is sufficiently cool enough to lift it? Well there is always the Graygem, sure it's supposed to be on the Irda Isel, but why not have the characters use it to lift the tower and then have them break it and Chaos escapes beginning the Chaos War. :D Or there is still one "Stone of Threes" the stones that were originally used to make the towers that went missing during the Cataclysm. That would seem appropriate. Man 4 years. That is a great accomplishment! I wish you the best with it! |

Perhaps the lances are stored in the citadel and always on the move so that the enemy cannot find them. (I used the same tactic with my POWs in Star Wars: Rebellion) Just a thought. |

I agree wholeheartedly with the other posters who think the Blood Sea is a great place to have the Citadel floating over. Having your major baddies looking for relics from the drowned Tower there is the perfect reason. Or it could be some uber-evil artifact that minions of the King Priest confiscated. It has lain buried beneath the sea until some unsuspecting sea elves uncovered it. The artifact, once freed from the rubble, has been calling to the forces of evil to come claim it. I have an idea for the origin for the artifact but not powers. What if it is a piece of a very old altar the original Ogres made to their goddess Takhisis? The piece of stone could have been incorporated into a peice of jewelry, weapon or the like. You could have a sea elf NPC be helping your PC group once they get there. Another great thing about being near the Blood Sea, that is Minotuar pirates! |
