#1zombiegleemaxFeb 01, 2004 1:07:00 | Hey guys, I'm new to Greyhawk and I'm working on my character background. I have the large map of the Flanaes (sp?) and I was wondering if there are any countries with an "eastern" flavor. Monks, Samuri, that sort of thing. Thanks in advance. |

There are 'Islands of Niphon or Nippon' in one of the old Gygax maps, about 3000km southwest from Amedio jungle if I remember correctly but whether this is like anything you are asking, I don't know. *Unless you count middle-east flavor of Baklunish areas. |

Regardless, in addition to "Nippon" (Japan), there's also "Zindia" (India), & the "Celestial Imperium" (China). Those names, except perhaps for the Celestial Imperium, are regarded my most 'Hawkers as little more than "placeholder" names, & aren't really regarded as canon. |

I don't have it right now since I saved it on other computer. Dont forget Erypt (Egypt) though Was there much information about Sundered Empire in Chainmail? Seriously. IMO Samurais, Ninjas and whatnot have no place whatsoever in Flanaess. We have martial arts monks and that should satisfy those who want eastern flavour to all of their campaigns. Believe me, I've met enough players who always want to do something they saw in some anime/martial arts film and that's ok, it's just not suitable for Greyhawk. |

(exotic weapon from wheel of time) It is definitely an "eastern" type weapon and I was trying to think of how he would have acquired such a weapon. I was thinking it would be easy if he had come across people from a Japan type culture. If this culture doesn't exist in Flanaess than I guess it's back to the drawing board. Thanks for the help. |
