#1brimstoneFeb 04, 2004 17:27:27 | I would like to take this opportunity to officially apologize for my chastizing of the Kapak draconian being white. I have since seen both the Baaz and the Kapak...and they are both excellent looking (the Baaz has the ram horns!!!!!!!!!!) :D Anyway...upon close examination of the Kapak...you can see that it is not painted white...it is in fact painted kind of...well...coppery, then coated with a whitish-green coating....effectively making the "copper" of the Kapak look very aged (think Statue of Liberty). Now that is some incredible attention to detail...and I chastized them for being idiotic and painting it white. I'm sorry...I was way off. These two are really slick...and I do hope to see more Dragonlance miniatures in the future. (wasn't it canon once upon a time that Kapaks didn't have tails?) |
#2daedavias_dupFeb 04, 2004 17:55:54 | The first time I saw pictures of the Kapak I was like what the cheese? Like you, it wasn't until I actually held one in my hands did I notice how cool he was. I want more Draconian minis too(Especially a Bozak!!!!!) The only problem I found with the Kapak is that it is so friggin huge. This one looks like he should have no problem maintaining flight. I really like it though. As to the tail...I think the official canon has changed now. Tails seem to be the norm for draconians now. It took me a while to locate the tail on the Baaz mini, but it is there. |
#3ferratusFeb 05, 2004 14:35:44 | I bought some dragoneye minatures, and I got two drow and an orc druid, but no draconians. Doh! ;) I love my dwarven defender (Hylar), Cleric of Reorx in red vestments (Moradin), and my Klar (dwarven barbarian). |

#5talinthasFeb 05, 2004 19:32:57 | i've bought a ton of them, and aside from the draconian coloration, i love em =) even have a full set of dragons =) |
#6brimstoneFeb 06, 2004 8:55:33 | Originally posted by talinthas Do you not agree that the Kapak is supposed to look like aged copper, ala Statue of Liberty? At first I just thought it was painted white...but after seeing it in person, I don't think that anymore. Do you still? |
#7talinthasFeb 06, 2004 18:06:16 | looks either like a sivak or a white dragon spawn to me. |
#8brimstoneFeb 09, 2004 9:46:30 | Originally posted by talinthas Ah...well, the one I saw (it wasn't mine) looked kinda greenish with definate brown undertones...at least that's how it looked to me. How do they paint those anyway? |

#10brimstoneFeb 09, 2004 10:33:10 | Originally posted by Cam Banks Are you kidding me? That's insane! Isn't there some...I don't know...like an action figure painting method they could benefit from? After all...it is Hasbro... |
#11talinthasFeb 09, 2004 11:02:35 | the action figure method is the same as the mini painting method- a lot of kids in china. |
#12brimstoneFeb 09, 2004 11:16:59 | It's really odd that we're talking about this...because this weekend I was thinking about toys and how such...and how their painted (GI Joe, Star Wars, Transformers, but it was the mini's that started the thinking). And I was actually going to look it up on-line tonight how they go about painting these kinds of toys... And here we are discussing it. Weird. Hmm...I guess it's not so weird since I started the discussion on painting process. heh heh Man, this is going to be a long day... |
