#1zombiegleemaxFeb 05, 2004 8:38:59 | Im so looking forward to picking this up. My son is already calling it OUR comic, hehe. Unfortuanately Im waiting eye surgeory and am quite blind (I read with a magnifying glass) but I can still look at all the pretty pictures, hehe. I may have to pick up some DL Miniatures as well. I hope the DL ones are in a seperate set. |
#2zombiegleemaxFeb 05, 2004 12:12:29 | I picked it up last night. I must admit I was a little skeptical at first, but when I got home and read it, I was blown away! The art was fantastic and the story was great. It has been over 10 years since I read Legend of Huma, so I'm not sure if the adaptation was done well, but they really did a good job of capturing the essence of Huma, a knight who questions his own abilities and whether or not he even deserves to be a knight. Kaz was great. I know there is some debate over feet vs. hooves but I for one love the latter. Overall great comic!! |
#3zombiegleemaxFeb 05, 2004 14:36:46 | Wow, Im very impressed with this comic. Pros 1) Excellent artwork. 2) Excellent story telling Complaints 1) still not sure about the waterbuffalo Minotaur horns 2) Kaz has hooves, should have been cloven feet 3) ended too soon and the next issue is too far away 4) addicted and the next issue is too far away 5) next issue is too far away 6) next issue is too far away Summation 1) excellent buy 2) well worth the money 3) highest quality DL product I have ever bought 4) next issue is too far away, haha |
#4silvanthalasFeb 05, 2004 15:58:15 | Originally posted by Hammerhand WotC apparently mandated that Kaz have hooves. Why they did this is quite unclear, since in LoH, Kaz has feet, and even the cover of Night of Blood has minotaurs with boots on. |
#5zombiegleemaxFeb 05, 2004 16:16:16 | ..and they also stated in the DLCS that Minotaurs have cloven feet,,,,very annoying. ..but this is still a great comic, hehe. |
#6brimstoneFeb 05, 2004 16:16:41 | I really don't understand some of the demands I've heard that WotC has made to a lot of the people who have purchased the rights to certain things. Some of them are just down right weird requests that make no sense to me. Ah well. I'm sure there's a reason somewhere... |
#7DragonhelmFeb 05, 2004 17:07:53 | The issue of cloven feet/hooves/etc. has been debated for as long as minotaurs have existed on Krynn. In this case, I'm not sure if this is a WotC mandate, or if it was artistic interpretation. It could be debated that there are multiple styles of feet that minotaurs have, much like how thri-kreen have two different types of hands (See Thri-Kreen of Athas for details). In the grand scheme of things, that's not really a big deal. I'm real happy with how Kaz looks. |
#8zombiegleemaxFeb 05, 2004 17:12:15 | I think its just that finbally they actualy stated in the DLCS that they have cloven FEET where before it was all left to artistic interpritation. ..and yes Kaz looks very scary even with buffalo horns, haha. The page where it shows him in chains as a look up shotp is quite intimidating especialy since thats how most humans would be viewing a 7' Miniotaur. |
#9silvanthalasFeb 05, 2004 19:00:32 | Originally posted by Dragonhelm Well, I'm not about to start a debate with you Trampas; I'm just going on what Ernst and the other guys at Roaring Studios have said over the past few months on this issue. |
#10DragonhelmFeb 05, 2004 20:58:15 | Originally posted by silvanthalas Maybe I missed that, then. I just wasn't sure. |
#11zombiegleemaxFeb 05, 2004 21:32:47 | I'm so happy to see that everyone is happy with the book. It's great to read all these awesome reactions to the book. And as Hammerhand pointed out, the next issue is far away. But, not that far! Expect it before the month ends! Even better: I've seen it and all I can say is >WOW!< :D If you loved issue #1, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for your support! |
#12zombiegleemaxFeb 05, 2004 21:39:16 | Mike dont say such things. It seems like an eternity until that comic comes out and you arent making things any better, haha. Again, great job on that comic. As I said it is by far my favorite DL product to date. |
#13zombiegleemaxFeb 05, 2004 21:46:29 | Originally posted by Hammerhand That's an incredible compliment! Thanks, the creative team did such an amazing job on this book! I'm awestruck every time I pick it up! And it only gets better... :D ;) |
#14rath_the_rangerFeb 09, 2004 11:54:07 | Originally posted by Dragonhelm Yeah, you must have missed it, Trampas. Ernst said the WotC specifically told them they HAD to use hooves for the mino feet, hence why Kaz has hooves. -->Here is a link to that thread <-- |
#15brimstoneFeb 09, 2004 12:40:14 | Hmm...I guess I missed that, too. (or just forgot about it) heh heh Ah well...either way, I like it better this way. (as I said before...I don't see any difference between a hoof and a hard leather or wooden soled boot...as far as slippin' and slidin' on the deck of a ship.). |
#16NivedFeb 09, 2004 13:23:42 | The comic is beautiful. Flat out, hands down, rocks. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Excellent art, colors, paceing, adaption, etc... All aspects of this are quite frankly awesome. I'm very impressed. |
#17lugnut71Feb 11, 2004 12:58:23 | I agree I think it was very pretty. I also think they did a excellent job of carrying the story over. My personal favorite picture is the image of the sliver Dragon at the end with the Kaz and Huma gazing at it. This also makes me want to reread the book. So I think I have to buy it. Actually all this Dragonlance goodness lately is making me think it is time to reread everything. That would also help my game since it would reduce the amount of character errors. Like Lord Oswal showing up during the War of the Lance. |
