Ogres and the Chaos War

Feb 05, 2004 10:50:45 Has anything been written, even hinted at, about what the Ogres were doing during the Chaos War? The only Ogre specific stuff I've ran into has been in earlier or later adventures/novels and not in this timeframe.

I've been using Ogres allied with the Knights of Takhisis as my baddies for my Chaos War game and wanted to check to make sure I didn't do anything contradictory here. From what I've read it seems to make sense that the Ogres be troubling Silvanesti forest the most but be forced to ditch their campaign when the minions of chaos show up.

My idea was an ambitious Ogre Magi forged an alliance with a Knight of the Thorn. The Ogre Magi has an Ogre Warlord under his control and is allying with the Thorn Knight in exchange for magical knoweldge, artifacts, etc. What the Thorn Knight doesn't know or even suspect is that the Ogre Magi is trying to puzzle out the ceremony to become an Ogre Titan.

Feb 05, 2004 21:14:28 Actually, I think the Ogres and the Knights of Takhisis were enemies. I know that they were at least planning on destroying the ogres on their march to SOlamnia, or something like that.

Feb 07, 2004 18:07:26 Correct me if i'm wrong but i recall reading somewhere. I 'm not sure though, that during the Chaos War the ogres of Blode neary silvanesti were allied, fighting against the forces of Chaos. Which doesn't surprise me much. Mostly because Chaos was intent on destroying everyone good or evil. That meant strange alliances arose. (I apologize if this information is completely wrong, but i haven't read Chaos War Series or Dragons of a Summer Flame for awhile.)

Feb 07, 2004 21:51:32 Actually, now that I htink about it, it depends on if he's talking abotu the Chaos War as in vs. Chaos, or as in vs. the Knights of Takhisis. In the former, *EVERYBODY* was allied against him, Ogres and Elves, Metallic and Chromatic dragons, Solamnic and...Takhisisian(?) Knights, everybody. But, in the latter, I think the Tarmak and the Minotaurs, and maybe a few others, allied with the KoT, but that's about it.

Feb 08, 2004 18:47:47 to clarify, I was asking about the Knights of Takhisis and their blitkrieg campaign before Chaos is revealed as the real threat. In other words, who did the Knights ally with other than the brutes? Were the Ogres and Minotaurs on their side?

Feb 08, 2004 19:58:45 Actually i think the Knights of Takhasis were primarily an extremely racist organization in general.

Both the Minotaurs and Ogres I believe were strongly opposed to the Knights of Takhasis as were the Black Robes.

Ogres for being well....vermin the Knights thought represented all of Evil's failures

Minotaurs and Black Robes because their loyalty was to other dark gods before Takhasis

I'm not sure the Dark Knights would make use of Hobgoblins or Goblins either though I imagine that would severely impact their ability to wage a campaign even with Dragons and Draconian Allies.

Feb 08, 2004 22:12:22 No, the minotaurs had a sorta semi-alliance with the KoT. It never talks about it, but I do know that minotaurs could be any level in the KoT in the 2E rules.

Feb 13, 2004 13:12:14 I am reading through War of Souls right now. In it, it describes that the Ogres (especially those of Blode) were allies of the KoT DURING the KoT invasion/Chaos War. But right afterwards the KoT betrayed the Ogres to make an alliance with Malys.
