Deveolping a possible campaign plot. Does anyone have any information on how Dregoth became an undead SK? and would it be possible for this status to be spread to other dead sorcerer kings?

And who better to raise to undead status than dregoth's long time rival, Ablach-Re? His templars are already running around the streets of Raam....

Mon Addarath, Dregoth's immortal High Templar, childhood friend and leading general of his armies recovered his lord's remains after he was slain by the other SKs. Although its never stated exactly, I would presume that Addarath was the one who brought the Dread Lord back to life. Either that, or Dregoth had some kind of contingency planned in the event of his untimely demise that would turn him into a kaisharga undead. I think Abalach-Re is better off dead myself, since having her city in complete anarchy makes for some great adventuring.

True, true... but my thought was not to bring Raam under control again, rather to make preventing Dregoth from raising Ablach-Re a goal of the campaign... Last thing athas needs is a SK coming back, under control of a more powerful SK.

thanks for the info too. Where was that from?

While the revised DS box set has a smidgeon of info on Dregoth himself, the City by the Silt Sea accessory is all about Guistinal and its inhabitants, including the dray, Absolom (the highest ranking dray priest) and Mon Addarath, Dreg's right hand man. Its well written and even the run through adventure isn't half bad (its loose and open ended). Definately a worthwhile purchase either from an auction site or ESD download.

Hmmm . . . Dregoth animating his rival. I'll run with the idea. If I recall the Prism Pentad correctly, after Sadira killed Abalach-Re, there was nothing left of her corpse. So, it wouldn't be so simple as ressurecting her as a coproreal undead. Either she would become some kind of specter or ghost like entity, or Dregoth would have to fine a new form for her soul to inhabit. I rather like the second idea, so I'll go from there (sounds like more fun than her being a ghost anyhow). It would have to be something usefull (he is pragmatic), humiliating (she did kill him after all), and easily controlled (he's not stupid). Perhaps, as part of the ritual to revive her, he has an item capable of dominating her or even destroying her; or perhaps her new form has an inherient weakness that Dregoth plans to exploit to keep her in line (the former seems much more likely than the latter). The adventure could hinge on the PCs attempting to interupt the ritual, but if they fail that, then they would have to recover the controlling device from an even greater enemy, Dregoth, or find some way to learn about and exploit her weakness. Well, the balls in your court. Hope the brain drippings are of use.

Hey, thats really nice... I like those ideas.

Dregoth would definitely love to control Ablach-Re, but rather than have her a mindless zombie, have her be conscious and free willed, but controlled with a voodoo doll type method. Causing her pain and threat of death for disobedience.

You did mention that no part of Ablach Re remained... would it be possible that some small parts of her still exist? Im kind of reminded of an old Nintendo game Castlevania II, where Simon Belmont has to recover a few choice missing parts of Dracula so that he can revive him, and destroy him permanently. They were his Heart, Eye, Tooth, Nail, and Rib... One thought would be to completely steal... I mean borrow that idea. Not so much that the pc's would collect all the pieces, more that they need to recover just -one- to keep ablach-re out of Dregoth's reach... problem is, theyre always moments too late... forcing them to confront Mon Addarath and Dregoth.

Another thought (and probably a bit more in keeping with the books, which i have a lot of respect for,) would be that Dregoth needs to form a more artificial body for Ablach-Re. This would also be more in keeping with the "Voodoo Doll" control system. A body made of Obsidian would be very cool... Thought Im not sure where to progress from there. How would he make it, what does he need, how can the players get involved... hum.

That's what I was thinking too. Abalach-Re seemed petty and vain in my opinion (based on her many trists during her reign and subsequent abandonment of the fruit of such labors), so giving her a form truly hideous and grotesque, yet still capable of speach so that she can lament aloud her fate. A miasma of monsterous body parts fused together by magic; a rotting coprse resembling a sickeningly obese woman (thinking along the lines of the Fael image from the 2nd Dark Sun MC), or, if your players have sense of maturity, giving the new form a particularly nasty 'theme' like flies and maggots (swarming from her extended jaws, squirming larvae stretching her stomache akin to pregnancy).

I like the voodoo doll like thing. In my game, the halflings of the forest ridge share many cultural similarities to both african and old carribean cultures. Having Dregoth learn of some kind of technique for controlling undead, likely learned from the shunned halfling sorcerors (a blend of herbalist and witch docter), seems to fit well in my eyes. Even better if Dregoth or one of his high priests dupe the PCs into learning these tidbits for him. Instead of a doll though, perhaps something less conspicuous as to its use, like a wicker or pumice manaquin.

While interesting, it doesn't seem humiliating enough. I like the harrum, that's cute. I could see the PCs having a really rough time tracking the little s.o.b. down, especially if it meets up with a swarm.

Perhaps Dregoth keeps her in a small cage and occasionally pokes her with a stick.
