#1zombiegleemaxFeb 09, 2004 0:17:08 | My gaming group (unfortunately) has something of an obsession for Prestige Classes... something that Dark Sun lacks (for obvious reasons.) So, I was thinking that perhaps I could build some of my own. I've done a little digging around my DS materials and tried to come up with a few ideas for new prestige classes from existing materials. I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether these ideas already exist, or some other input. I recall vaguely there being a list of PrC's that can fit in athas without effort. If anyone has a link to that, I would appreciate it... Ideas: Cilops Rider This PrC could provide a mechanic for players who want to tame a Cilops as a mount. (Those giant centipede-like things) Other abilities could include training a cilops' psionic tracking abilities and fighting capabilities, as well as mounted combat. Dune Trader As there is no trader class in 3.5 DS, I think a Dune Trader would be a welcome PrC. My personal predjudice says a trader is an interesting class, but not all that exciting. This could be an option for PC rogues who wish to involve themselves in one of the trading houses. The class abilities could simulate some of the Trader's 2e class abilities, and compact them a little bit. Specialized Gladiators (???) Gladiators come in different shapes and sizes... It would make sense to have PrC's for some of the different fighting styles... I dont have the Glad's handbook so I dont know much about them. Veiled Preserver Pretty obvious organizational PrC... Magic abilities, setting up contacts, resources... Perhaps the Harper Mage could be used as a template... Pyreen Touched Druids who are favored by the pyreen could be given enhanced abilities. A possible PrC for Elemental and some Rain clerics as well. |

As the Elf race makes provisions for bonuses to an elf run when being led, it would make sense that there is a mechanic to define who exactly is the leader of an elf run. Other than tribal clout, i cant think of what else this PrC could offer. Life Path PrC's Dark Sun encourages Pterrans to follow one of 3 life paths to exclusion... Psion, Druid and Preserver, However doesn't offer much in return. A simple light at the end of the tunnel for these paths would be nice. |

A Cilops is probably too small to be riden by medium humanoids, since they are long but thin, being basically centipedes. You can find a Silmahacc Rider (that is the beast on the cover of the second boxed set) at this adress, from Grummore. At the same adress is a Trader PrC, with specializations for the major Merchant Houses. |
#4zombiegleemaxFeb 09, 2004 9:57:58 | Good pages... I didnt realize there were that many good Prestige Classes out there. Ill have to print those out and take a magnifying glass to them later. Well, in defense of my cilops riders... According to the Ivory Triangle, they are Huge monsters (15 feet) that are often trained. It never said that they took riders... I guess they are used similarly to bloodhounds. Thanks for the info! |
#5GrummoreFeb 09, 2004 11:05:55 | Originally posted by Phoenix_Down I had something in mind for the elves, but nothing done so far. As for the Pterrans, you can find things on my web site (2 PrCs) about Slimahacc Riders and Pterrax Riders. They arent compliant to 3.5. I have some others done on my hard drive, but I am working on a project that involve pterrans, so I will keep you inform. |

#7flipFeb 12, 2004 8:04:28 | Originally posted by Grummore In draft for the PrC document (which was unfortunately halted, because we think we might try and get some of it published in Dragon ...) were a couple of elven prestige classes: Battle Dancer, Elemental Singer, and Thri-kreen Slayer. What I might like to see is for something to actually take and expand the Dwarven Focus into something cool. |
#8nytcrawlrFeb 12, 2004 13:56:22 | Originally posted by flip I had an idea for that, but was told it needed to be Epic. So we'll see I guess, I'll keep it on the back burner. |
#9jon_oracle_of_athasFeb 13, 2004 7:17:07 | If I recall correctly, your class feature ideas were epic in nature, but the concept need not be. |
#10nytcrawlrFeb 13, 2004 15:55:28 | Originally posted by Jon, Oracle of Athas Ok, that is different. I can put that on my current list of things to cook up. |
