#1Shadowfax7Feb 19, 2004 11:44:02 | I was looking for stats on an old edition Greyhawk race called "Snow Elves" . . . Has it been converted to 3rd ed. in any Greyhawk supplement ?? Is the Living Greyhawk Gazeteer still around for 3rd ed. and which one would have their stats ?? If anyone knows, please either post the stats or tell me where I can find the supplement. |
#2HalberkillFeb 19, 2004 12:33:04 | http://www.mvn.net/jimnellen/greyhawk/Frost/snowelves.htm I'm not sure if they have been made into 3e. I wouldn't be suprised if a FR supplement stole them somewhere. The only place they have appeared afaik is in Dragon magazine. Halber |

#4Shadowfax7Feb 19, 2004 13:01:30 | Thanx for your responses. I have the original article, been collecting Dragon since issue #70. Maybe I can get some opinions on converting them to 3rd ed. Converting them was fairly easy, but I am stuck on two of their abilities . . . 1) +1 on saving throws vs. cold attacks and effects 2) 90% chance to set a trap in snowy-mountaineous terrain causing 2d6 damage/level For the first I am considering a +1 on Fort saves vs. cold attacks and conditions (incl. Fort saves for cold weather from the Survival skill) . . . +1 matches the original version, however should it be +2 in 3rd ed. ?? It seems certain bonuses went up in 3rd ed, even though the Drow's original +2 bonus to saves is still a +2 bonus in 3rd ed. (for comparison puposes) For the second I am considering a +2 or +4 on Survival ckecks to set traps in snowy-mountainous terrain (since the Survival skill took over the old ability to set snares in natural terrain). Not sure which bonus to use ?? And Aeolius, I will check out the Unearthed Arcana version when it comes to stores near me. |
#5zombiegleemaxFeb 19, 2004 13:30:46 | Well, my suggestion would be to keep racial bonuses to a minimal. Race is meant to tie in with the characters story and enhance roleplaying, not to create bonuses that may play as deciding factors when pitted against game mechanics. |
#6Shadowfax7Feb 20, 2004 10:05:26 | The racial bonuses I want to "add" are actually in the original version of the race, but need converting to 3rd ed. So, basically I am asking for help in converting them. Please see my last post. |
