#1zombiegleemaxFeb 21, 2004 17:35:55 | Hey all. I'm home for a day or two and I was hoping maybe one or two of you might give me some feedback on some plans I've been making for a campaign in Hazlan. The PCs include Kyra, a female mulan avenger (sort of strange, I know), Krench, a caliban rogue, and Sister Sulain, a Witch of Hala. Initial background is this: Kyra's father, Taico, was a gifted tattooist who was conscripted to do some work for the Red Academy. Shortly after the work was done, Taico and his wife were murdered by Kajian Razak, one of the students of the academy. Kyra watched this happen, and swore vengeance. She and one of the families more loyal rashemi retainers escaped with Kyra's brothers and sister. After dropping her siblings off with the witches of Hala at the Hospice of Whispered Words, Kyra and her retainer travelled into Nova Vaasa where she is trained in swordplay. She now feels she is ready to return and seek vengeance. Kyra will team up with Sister Sulain at the Hospice and they will encounter Krench a little later. Now some plot points and Surprises: Kajian Razak is the son of a mulan mother and her rashemi bodyguard. He is a textbook self-loather and a gifted conjurer. He also has a deathdog familiar called Diablo. He was part of a ritual that involved the reanimation and control of the Minion of Chaos (some of you may remember my Iron and Blood character write ups from the old Kargatane message boards). The tattoos that were meant to bind and control the minion were done by Taico, and they were flawed. The Minion arose and slaughtered many of the wizards involved with the ritual before escaping into the Hazlan wild. Kajian executed Taico for this failure. Kajian is now seeking out the Minion on the orders of Hazlik. If the Minion cannot be caught and controlled somehow, it is to be destroyed. -What Kyra doesn't know, is that Kajian is also her betrothed due to an arrangement their parents made when the children were still young. For his part, Kajian doesn't really want to harm Kyra, but he is more interested going through with the wedding arrangement in order to lay claim to her families holdings. Sister Sulain is an orphan who came to the Hospice of Whispered words as a youth and is now seeking to discover who her parents really were. Her only clue is a signet ring that was hung around her neck when she was found. -Though I haven't yet decided as to who Sulain's parents are, I am leaning towards an illicit affair between her mother and one of the members of either the Rivtoff, Chekiv, or Vistin families of Nova Vaasa. Clues to this will be provided later in their adventures when they encounter a stranger dressed in a long black coat with a scaly, red right hand. Krench was born in the Tables of Sly Var to a rashemi mother who was imprisoned and experimented on for thieving from a mulan's food storage. Before she died giving birth to him, she had become a broken one infused with both wolfen and plains cat traits, which were passed on to Krench. He was raised as sort of a lab pet by the keepers of the Tables, but managed to escape through the sewers after he heard his masters plan to "study him more thoroughly". -Krench has been living on the outskirts of Sly Var, scavenging what he can to survive, he has found a group of other creatures that escaped while being transported from the Tables, but they are angry and half-mad, and more often than not, Krench must hide from them as he hides from the city guard of Sly Var. Anywho, that's the basics right now, I'll check back once or twice before I go to see if any of you good folk can give me any further advice or ideas. Toodles... and thanks in advance. |
#2zombiegleemaxFeb 21, 2004 18:57:22 | Hey, Grigg, do you still have those Iron and Blood character write ups? |
#3zombiegleemaxFeb 22, 2004 14:00:48 | Sure do. My folks have been nice enough not to delete anything I wrote up from their computer. |
#4zombiegleemaxFeb 26, 2004 18:14:28 | Nobody? Cool, I guess I'm good to go. See you guys next time I'm around. |

Maybe the Halan "heretic" can run afoul of the Lawgiver's church? [/b] I pretty much go on the assumption that the church of the Lawgiver views Hala as one of the Lawgivers consorts. The mistress that takes care of the garden, and heals scrapes and scratches of the faithful. However, I have added a minor demon to my rogues gallery that is posing as one of the Lawgiver's Inquisitors. (A black abishai dubbed Inquisitor Kantaar. And before you ask, yes that name is a little nod to the Evil Dead films.) His main job is currently assisting Kajian Razak in the capture of the Minion of Chaos, though I may expand or shrink his role depending on how things go. |
