#1angalMar 03, 2004 1:04:17 | I was just looking for input on how to deal with Magic items in the world of Dragonlance, cas well in the main books magic was hard to come by, My players are natorius powergamers so i have to keep an eye on them, but other then cheating a bit they havn't been that bad (side note three of the curent four are named chris....) I started them in solance and they were like we want magic! all i have them was MW gear that took them two years to get, three of them have MY full plate and the thief a chain shirt, and there weapons are MS they all have about two, so back to what I'm getting at cuz I'm kinda a newb DM and I like input, where would you thik they would find magic sold? cuz I want them along the tearms of the hero's of the lance, there starts were better then my chars, the mino only has 20 str, but as of now there lvl 3 and all they have is MW gear and a few potions they got of some corpses. My party is a Mino fighter human LG warrior going crown next lvl, human thief and cleric, there might be a kender thief cuz or another mino cuz the old mino might die cuz he was cheating there dirty bum. so if you can make sence of this which might be hard from what I hear, I enjoy input and others Idia's |

As for those places that do sell minor magic items (aforementioned potions and scrolls), they're likely to be in major settlements, like Palanthas, Gwynned, or Silvanost (before it fell). |

We have a couple miscellaneous items(bracers of armor +4, ring of minor spell storing, ring of fire resistance 10, maybe a few others). We started at 2nd level, and now we are 11. One way we have kind of gotten around hording magic items is by using alternate materials for items. Check out dragonmetal and starmetal(virtually the same as mithral and adamantine) weapons and armor, they provide bonuses without the magic. If the PCs want a lot of magic items, though, i would recommend to them to take some craft feats so they can make their own. That is a good way for them to sort of make their own destiny and not just live off the loot from dead baddies. AM |

That way you wouldn't need new magic items all the time and players would really look forward to levelling up. I also use the Tower of Wayreth as a "magic emporium" of sorts. But it can only be accessed by WizHS and they don't take cash (trade only!). My players have brought exotic items and item parts they've found to the tower and had the wizards craft them something they wanted. But it still takes time and something in trade. |
