#1KamelionMar 10, 2004 15:06:57 | I've been fiddling with the Monster Summoning lists from ToA, looking to see if I can't get them to take more advantage of the black/grey touched templates. I also removed all of the celestial/fiendish templates and replaced them with the elemental template (including the paraelements, to be included in the next ToA release). This list isn't official or anything (there's still the issue of the non-ogl MotP templates) but feel free to use abuse or refuse as you will Summon Monster – Athasian elemental variant Creatures in bold are found in Terrors of Athas. Creatures in italics are found in Terrors of the Deadlands. (1) The creature may only be summoned into an aquatic environment. (2) The creature may only be summoned into a silt-rich environment. (3) The creature may only be summoned into an abundant environment (DS3e Core Rules Chapter 8). 1st Level Elemental (air) hawk Elemental (air) owl Elemental (earth) dog Elemental (earth) jankx Elemental (fire) dire rat Elemental (fire) giant fire beetle Elemental (magma) monstrous centipede, Medium Elemental (magma) monstrous scorpion, Small Elemental (rain) skyfish(1) Elemental (silt) monstrous spider, Small Elemental (silt) snake, Small viper Elemental (sun) monkey Elemental (sun) raven Elemental (water) octopus(1) 2nd Level Black-touched kes’trekel Blight (undead) Elemental (air) eagle Elemental (earth) riding dog Elemental (fire) giant bombardier beetle Elemental (magma) monstrous centipede, Large Elemental (magma) monstrous scorpion, Medium Elemental (rain) jhakar Elemental (silt) monstrous spider, Medium Elemental (silt) snake, Medium viper Elemental (sun) giant bee Elemental (water) shark, Medium(1) 3rd Level Black-touched dire bat Black-touched tagster Elemental (air) razorwing Elemental (earth) cave fisher Elemental (fire) giant lizard Elemental (magma) giant termite queen Elemental (magma) monstrous centipede, Huge Elemental (rain) black bear Elemental (silt) snake, constrictor Elemental (silt) snake, Large viper Elemental (sun) ape Elemental (water) kluzd Elemental, Small (any) Gray-touched rasclinn Gray-touched sand howler Gray Zombie (undead) 4th Level Black-touched bog wader Elemental (air) giant owl Elemental (earth) lion Elemental (fire) lirr Elemental (magma) monstrous spider, Large Elemental (silt) snake, Huge viper Elemental (sun) giant wasp Elemental (water) athasian shark, Large(1) Gray-touched pterrax Mephit (any) Shadow Thoqqua Xorn, minor 5th Level Elemental (air) dire ape Elemental (earth) takis Elemental (fire) giant stag beetle Elemental (magma) monstrous scorpion, Large Elemental (rain) feylaar Elemental (silt) cha’thrang Elemental (sun) brown bear Elemental (water) athasian shark, Huge(1) Elemental, Medium (any) Gray-touched tiger Gray-touched wall walker Gray-touched war crodlu Obsidian Beast Psi-Shadow Rast Shadow Giant Shadow mastiff 6th Level Athasian wraith Black-touched tigone Elemental (earth) monstrous spider, Huge Elemental (fire) dire lion Elemental (magma) monstrous centipede, Gargantuan Elemental (silt) brown silt horror(2) Elemental (sun) snake, giant constrictor Elemental beast (any) Elemental, Large (any) Gray-touched kalin Gray-touched subterranean lizard Janni (genie) Paraelemental beast (any) 7th Level Arrowhawk, elder Black-touched dark spider defiler Black-touched tembo Djinni (genie) Elemental (earth) slimahacc Elemental (magma) monstrous scorpion, Huge Elemental (water) giant octopus(1) Elemental, Huge (any) Gray-touched cilops Gray-touched hatori Invisible stalker Sand Bride 8th Level Black-touched kirre Elemental (air) aviarag Elemental (earth) dire bear Elemental (fire) dire tiger Elemental (magma) monstrous centipede, Colossal Elemental (silt) white silt horror(2) Elemental (sun) monstrous spider, Gargantuan Elemental (water) giant squid(1) Elemental, greater (any) Greater shadow Gray-touched gaj Gray-touched silt weird(2) 9th Level Black-touched dark spider psion Black-touched obsidian retriever Elemental (air) athasian roc Elemental (earth) athasian treant(3) Elemental (fire) dark spider queen Elemental (magma) monstrous scorpion, Gargantuan Elemental (silt) monstrous spider, Colossal Elemental (water) dire athasian shark(1) Elemental, elder (any) Gray-touched high drik Sand Mother |
#2zombiegleemaxMar 10, 2004 15:19:37 | Hey these look great I'm definately using these for my shadow mage. :D DT Rules - Queensryche is ok too - NIN bleeegh P. Edit: My keyboard is adding random letters |
#3zombiegleemaxMar 10, 2004 15:47:45 | It occured to me a while ago that an alternate summoning chart, a la this, would allow me to remove the outer (demi-)planes from my DS cosmology, and just leave it with a few rare portals (cracks?) to alternate planes (worm-world, etc.) |

#5zombiegleemaxMar 10, 2004 16:36:05 | Nice use of elementals. DT are gods. QR is even better. Sorry for the plug/hijack Kam, just couldn't help myself. |

#7zombiegleemaxMar 10, 2004 16:47:51 | Originally posted by Kamelion Happy to be here, feel welcome amongst fellow prog. lovers and players of the great DS game. Hmm Kamelion aren't you a member of some prog. forum? Vaguely remember something like that. But this is getting off topic from the great list Kamelion has made which I am definately going to use, thank a lot for that Kam:D . P. |
#8xlorepdarkhelm_dupMar 10, 2004 17:57:27 | I like the list. Really makes use of Dark Sun, and keeps the outer planes from influencing any more than just Dregoth's portal. |
#9KamelionMar 10, 2004 18:32:18 | Thanks - much appreciated I'll have some stats to go with the (para)elemental templates in a short while... |
#10PrismMar 15, 2004 12:55:52 | Thanks Kamelion. These look great and the flavour will work fine. I'll probably let the players switch the elements depending upon their favoured element if they wish |
#11KamelionMar 15, 2004 13:18:20 | Originally posted by Prism Welcome . My first version just had the base template without an element specified (elemental hawk, elemental owl etc) and I'd also be tempted to allow players to switch elements in play if appropriate. The wood element might even make an interesting replacement for hardcore preservers and the like... |
