#1zombiegleemaxMar 11, 2004 21:30:49 | Okay, as basically an excuse to use the d20 Modern rules, which are awesome, I will be having my PCs go to the future of Krynn. Sorta. It all turns out to be a test, but you see, they take on new identities, just in modern days. I have some ideas for how Krynn became so technologically advanced, and here's a few of them: Some kind of magic catastrophe occured(but what, I'm not sure), making the people distrust magic even more then they did. Mages, sorcerers, and even clerics and mystics, become super-rare. The gnomes come out with a whole bunch of super-tech that actually is useful, starts becoming popular, especially with the dwarves, who also become super-techies. The elves, of course, are a little slow on the draw. The tradition of the Knights of Solamnia still continues, but they have changed a little bit...the Crown Knight is no longer even a Prestige class, now they all instead take leavels in the archaic weaponsmaster, the soldier, or the gunslinger(yes, their are gunslingers among the Knights). The Sword and Rose knights are still PrC's, but slightly modified to make them fit more with d20 Modern. And yes, they are still spellcasters, but Sword and Rose Knights are now *EXTREMELY* rare. A city will usually have a cleric or two per temple, as the head priest, and maybe some initiates. The equivalent of doctors would most likely be mystics rather than clerics(well, going by advanced classes in Urban Arcana, I guess they would be called acolytes/occultists). Sorcerers are really rare. The Wizards have two towers. Well, more like 1 1/2. They have Wayreth, and they have another one(I haven't yet decided where) that's a tower for techno mages. They are still the same order, but they both have their own Conclaves and such. Being a renegade is no longer a big deal, there's not enough mages to police the world anymore. I don't know about the Legion of Steel or the Knights of Neraka, though, or what will happen with the elves or the minotaurs. Any suggestions here would be appreciated. Also, what prestige classes would still work for Dragonlance Modern, and what advanced classes would have to be modified to fit the setting? Thanks. |
#2DragonhelmMar 11, 2004 23:08:11 | Cam's mentioned the idea of using d20 Modern rules for Dragonlance at one point. I think he called the idea d20 Dragonlance Legends, or something like that. I'll let Cam go into discussion on this. |
#3cam_banksMar 11, 2004 23:21:49 | Originally posted by Dragonhelm Curse my own self-enforced NDA, but I can't go into what I was actually going to do with that since I'm in the middle of doing something with it now. Not Dragonlance, but those early ideas have turned into something larger. Cheers, Cam |

#6ranger_regMar 18, 2004 4:50:35 | Advanced classes in D&D or any d20 fantasy-type RPG? I don't see why it's not appropriate. Go ahead and use that rules concept. |
