#1zombiegleemaxMar 24, 2004 14:02:41 | First caught wind of this over at EnWorld. The cover of Dungeon 110 is up on paizo's site. Any bets on who the woman is? I'm also guesstimating there won't be a nice fold out map That would have been real handy for newcomers. Here's the link. |
#2jon_oracle_of_athasMar 24, 2004 14:10:13 | 25 new DS monsters? Interesting. |
#3zombiegleemaxMar 24, 2004 14:23:22 | Nice fold out map? Says it includes a fold-out mini-scale map. obviously its not a map of the tablelands, my guess being a map of the arena in tyr. |
#4zombiegleemaxMar 24, 2004 15:13:59 | Nice image. Definately a villainess that needs a little background info to use in this weekend's game . . . |
#5ranger_regMar 24, 2004 18:12:14 | I swear I have seen that artwork before. Then again, it is a Brom artwork. They all pretty much look the same. Now, what will be the Dragon cover art? I know they're doing a Dark Sun crossover for the May issues (to be on sale April, if not this last week of March). |
#6beyowulfMar 24, 2004 18:49:19 | Some sort of Sorceror-Queen? Jon, no one notified you on this? If you guys are doing the official Athas conversion, wouldn't you be consulted on this? How's that supposed to work out anyway? |
#7Shei-NadMar 24, 2004 19:57:31 | Man, thats a great artwork... Hmm... who is it? The Title seems to talk about Dragon Kings. Should we think they want to add a new City-State? A New Champion (oh no, not that again!!!). Simply a wizard/psion who managed to undertake the dragon metamorphosis and has taken hold of some far off city? I doubt this is Abalach-Re, since she is weaing many eye symbols, and none of those associated with Badna (four armed man, grinning sun...). Anyways, it seems unlikely they would elaborate on dead sorcerer-queens. Lalali-Puy. Perhaps, though she seems to be in a Rock Palace, and her look doesn't exactly have an ''african'' feel. The other thing I could think of would be Sielba, the fromer sorcerer-queen of now ruined Yamaruke. However, it again seems unlikely they would develop a character which was killed and barred off the map almost at the start of the Age of Sorcerer Kings. Unless she has returned... hmm... Of course, it could just be an artwork, and not represent anyone in particular... but still... |

#11zombiegleemaxMar 25, 2004 9:22:07 | Off topic: I found this tidbit of info about my Dungeon subscription at thier website:Remaining Issues: 3 Woo Hoo! It should be here in a couple of days! |
#12GrummoreMar 25, 2004 10:51:55 | Woah! The pictures of the Sorceress-Queen is VERY cool. Again, Brom rules! If it'S not him, I am ready to leave my title of silly frog! :D |
#13zombiegleemaxMar 25, 2004 11:56:36 | Could even be a picture of Sacha before she lost her head... or body... |
#14zombiegleemaxMar 25, 2004 12:02:24 | Originally posted by Phoenix_Down I thought Sacha was a man. |
#15zombiegleemaxMar 25, 2004 12:20:21 | I thought Sacha was a man. Don't have my books on me to confirm or deny it... Sacha sounds like a woman's name to me... |

#19zombiegleemaxMar 25, 2004 14:40:56 | While I can't quite read the artist's signiture, it starts with an R so its not Brom. Not likely RK Post either. Whoever it is, hat's off to them.25 new DS monsters? Interesting. Bleh, its probably 25 converted DS monsters. |
#20kilamarMar 25, 2004 14:56:42 | Originally posted by Ranger REG For me it does not look like Brom even if there are some familiarities (mostly the colors and posture) with a Dungeon Cover a while back. The signature at the bottoms seems to start with an R. Kilamar |
#21jihun-nishMar 25, 2004 18:21:39 | Originally posted by Mach2.5 You mean those same (random 25 DS monsters) which can be found in ToA from Athas.org ?? Well hope not: would be cool to see new ones but you're probably wright. |
#22nytcrawlrMar 25, 2004 18:24:48 | Originally posted by Jihun-Nish Flip has had contact with Paizo and David Noonan (I think) about all this, so I seriously doubt they are the same monsters. Going to be really disappointed if they are anyways. |
#23zombiegleemaxMar 26, 2004 22:05:23 | Fa la la, fa la la http://www.jamesryman.com/ All bow down before me! |
#24zombiegleemaxMar 26, 2004 22:08:03 | Oh yes, and if you look im sure you'll see the cover for the upcoming Dragon... sans headings et al. Edit: hmm. Maybe its for Dungeon as well... *shrug* |
#25PennarinMar 27, 2004 0:57:19 | The Dungeon painting with the woman on the cover is called "Dark Sun Witch". I guess that straightens the speculations. Side by side are four Dungeon paintings, one entitled "Last Stand" where a bald muscle humanoid fights a giant weapon wielding insectoid with four arms in the desert... One named "Elven Ranger" with a guy on a bypedal lizard-creature, in the desert... The last one's name is funky and the painting could be of anything... |
#26zombiegleemaxMar 27, 2004 5:44:56 | Okay, someone's got skill. Not sure I like his version of he thri-kreen, but the rest really kick. Already trying to come up with a NPC based off the 'Eli' painting, along with 'celestial summoning' and 'monster cover'. Ahhh, the inspiration of art. |
#27zombiegleemaxMar 27, 2004 14:31:31 | :bounce: |
#28zombiegleemaxMar 27, 2004 14:32:04 | double post |
#29nytcrawlrMar 28, 2004 9:11:35 | Originally posted by Mach2.5 Yeah, no kidding. Compared to Brom, this guy will be in my top ten as well I think. He seems to like topless chicks alot like me too. |
#30KamelionMar 28, 2004 9:24:18 | Anybody else notice that the sun in the sorceress illustration is yellow? |
#31nytcrawlrMar 28, 2004 9:32:15 | Yeah looked at it again and saw that. Ah well. |
#32KamelionMar 28, 2004 9:49:29 | I didn't notice for ages - guess its cool DS atmosphere kept me distracted ;) |
#33zombiegleemaxMar 28, 2004 9:55:17 | I would say that maybe perhaps that isnt the sun (its not the right size, either) but Ral or Guthay. considering how bright the sun is, perhaps the moons look a lot brighter... Or it could be a defiler during the time of magic; the sun was still yellow, and the sun didn't change color until Rajaat channeled the power of the pristene tower into his champions. While the world is more lush during that time, remember we are looking at a picture of a defiler. ;) Or im just making up excuses in my imagination for what is an artist's error. |
