#1cam_banksMar 31, 2004 8:15:17 | Folks, It's Wednesday again, and so we've got another preview PDF from the Bestiary of Krynn. This time it's a charming fey template drawn originally from the realm of Taladas but updated to be equally useful for Ansalonian campaigns. Check it out! Child of the Sea Cheers, Cam |
#2zombiegleemaxMar 31, 2004 8:33:47 | Hmmm....I found the Child of the Sea's entry to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It was well organized, the art was great, and the creature's stats were well put together. I really could see allowing a PC to use the template to make their character unique. While interesting I must admit this wasnt exactly what I thought of when I was trying to guess what this weeks monster would be....that being said I think it's wonderful....the creature is Taldasian in origin....which means as far as I can see that the Bestiary isnt limited to Ansalon.....Now that in itself is very cool.... Well done again guys! |
#3zombiegleemaxMar 31, 2004 9:11:49 | Very nice. May can't get here soon enough. |
#4lugnut71Mar 31, 2004 9:44:29 | Once again I am impressed by the art. I really must repeat that you have made wonderful chocies in artist. |
#5zombiegleemaxMar 31, 2004 9:44:33 | Quick question: Are the Children of the Sea original creations by the 3.5E design team or do they have origins in a previous DL product? |
#6cam_banksMar 31, 2004 9:56:39 | Originally posted by Kai Lord They're in earlier products. Time of the Dragon, I think, or Taladas: The Minotaurs as well as the Dragonlance Monstrous Compendium Appendix. I don't have my enormous stockpile of DL material here at work, so I'm going from memory. Cheers, Cam |
#7zombiegleemaxMar 31, 2004 11:28:46 | Just a couple of questions - is the type of the child of the sea augmented humanoid, or fey? Or both? And when do they get the child of the sea skills? It suggests that there is a racial hit die, but there is no evidence to support that. Still, I like the creature. Kind of reminds me of the residents of Innsmouth... |
#8The_White_SorcererMar 31, 2004 11:34:30 | Originally posted by pddisc Fey is a type. Augmented Humanoid is a subtype. The child of the sea is a Fey (Aquatic, Augmented Humanoid). |
#9iltharanosMar 31, 2004 11:49:18 | Originally posted by pddisc They only get the child of the sea skills if the base creature has racial hit dice. Thus human children of the sea would not get this benefit, but ogres would. |
#10iltharanosMar 31, 2004 11:52:04 | I love the Child of the Sea template, which I believe first showed up in the accessory, Taladas: the Minotaurs. One nitpicking point though: The description says the Child of the Sea before you is barefoot, but the photo quite clearly shows she's wearing footgear. ;) |
#11talinthasMar 31, 2004 12:25:11 | dude, you guys got artwork by Udon! i'm greatly impressed and thrilled to see it =-) |
#12zombiegleemaxMar 31, 2004 12:53:27 | Originally posted by Cam Banks Cool. One more question, are Children of the Sea children or tuna? I've always wondered.... ;) |
#13zombiegleemaxMar 31, 2004 15:59:20 | Originally posted by Kai Lord Now Jessica, we've talked about this... Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#14baron_the_curseMar 31, 2004 17:09:29 | I did say sorry for doubting Cam and Andre, right?? Great job so far. I have a cool idea let's skip the Wednesday updates and just release the book next Wednesday... sounds cool huh?? |
#15NivedMar 31, 2004 17:37:51 | I dig it. Still am I the only one that immediatly wondered what a Minotaur Child of the Sea would look like? I mean Minotaur are famed as sailors... had to happen sometime. |
#16DragonhelmMar 31, 2004 17:39:13 | Originally posted by Cam Banks Otherlands. Originally posted by Kai Lord Sorry, Charlie.... ;) |
#17cam_banksMar 31, 2004 17:51:35 | Originally posted by Dragonhelm Nope, it definitely wasn't in there. As it turns out, Taladas: The Minotaurs was the only place it appeared, so there you go! Obscure creature resurrected from the vaults, again. Cheers, Cam |
#18zombiegleemaxMar 31, 2004 18:04:37 | How many more of these web previews can we expect before the release of the book....and the book is going to be released when? This one is going to be killer.....well...at least to my players... |
#19zombiegleemaxMar 31, 2004 21:01:06 | Originally posted by talinthas Aye, Udon was one of the coups I'm most proud of from my period as Sovereign Press's Art Director They really did some INCREDIBLE work for the Bestiary, as well as pretty much exclusively doing the art work for Key of Destiny :D Christopher |
#20DragonhelmMar 31, 2004 21:09:54 | Originally posted by Cam Banks Whoops, you're right. I was thinking of the Bolandi. :embarrass It's the alzheim...heim...whatsit again. ;) Serena - There are a total of 6 web previews for the Bestiary of Krynn, which is an aptly named product. |
#21zombiegleemaxApr 01, 2004 0:23:56 | Originally posted by Stormprince I'm noticing more and more a fanbase for Udon exploding on account of their work on the Exalted line. Sneaking them into the DL stable was indeed a coup. Originally posted by Stormprince The Bestiary really does appear to be shaping up into one top notch product. And Key of Destiny is just awesome. Can't wait to hold both products in my hands. |
#22elf_nfbApr 01, 2004 7:25:47 | I don't know which is worse: waiting for the new products knowing NOTHING about them or waiting AFTER seeing these teasers? The preview of KoD was great and the Beastiary is looking fantastic! |
#23talinthasApr 01, 2004 9:22:19 | i discovered UDON's work with the street fighter comic books, and seeing them work on DL is really exciting this fanboy =) Between them and Jason Engels, DL is in good hands artistically. Kudos, Chris! |
