Has there been a 3.5 write up on valley elves? I would like a complete racial describtion like in the PHB-background and racial traits etc.

There was a 3.0 write up in the Living Greyhawk Journal #2.

I just got the LGG. I love it. But the valley of the mage entry has some things in it that I am curious about ( not that I don't like to fill in the blanks anything). What is about valley elves that the other elves and elvish gods don't like? What is so special about the valley of the mage anyway? What is the interior of the valley like? Can anyone tell me more about the enigmatic mage of the vale?

Imma go try canonfire.

(Paraphrased from the LGJ #2)

-Minor subrace of elves, closely related to gray elves. They are eccentric, distrustful of outsiders and possibly inbred.

-Found only in the immediate vicinity of the Valley of the Mage.

-Shunned by other kinds of elves for selling their loyalty to a human in exchange for knowledge from beyond the outer planes.

-Tall as humans, thin with sharp pointed features.

-Pale yellow hair in summer, dark rich gold in winter.

-Prefer loose garments, blue and green in color.

-Speak Common, Elven and Gnome.

-Their ranger favored enemy is humans.

-Favored class wizard.

-Same elven traits as high elves.

-Get a +4 racial bonus to disguise when posing as human. They get -2 to diplomacy, gather information and intimidate involving other elves.

I can't give up any details on the Mage of the Valley due to a geas. ;)

Now having wrote that, what did the author (S Reynolds) mean by this? What kind of planar knowledge would appeal to a fairly rustic subrace of elves and how did this gained knowledge change the Valley Elves as we know them today? And not to nit pic, but "beyond the outer planes?" Does this infer the Far Realm?

There was a supplement regarding the Vale back in 2e times which would be worth finding for info on them.

that supplement has a really bad reputation, though.
personally, I like the thought of the Mage being an alienist, and the Valley elves having an affinity to the Far Realm. Of course, that doesn't mesh all that well with the canon.

It isn't a great product I agree but it's specific canon material on the Valley Elves & the mage so worth a read for interested parties.
