Sensitivity Domain Spell Query

I noticed that the 1st level domain spell for the Sensitivity domain in AoM is deathwatch - an evil necromantic spell. Should this not be replaced with something like detect undead instead?

It means those good-aligned Citadel mystics who take this domain (e.g. Jasper Fireforge) cannot use this spell even though it is on their list.

Thanks for any input.

You have two options here. Either replace it with detect undead as you suggest, or drop the Evil descriptor for the purposes of the Sensitivity domain only. I would suggest the latter, as this is an entirely appropriate spell for characters with Sensitivity (detect undead is more along the lines of Spiritualism or Necromancy).

But it's still a necromancy spell, even if you remove the [Evil] tag.

I'd rather just change it to detect undead or some other spell.

Ah, good point. You would think I would remember the Necromancy restriction of the Citadel mystic, but hey!

The best substitute for deathwatch is actually detect chaos/evil/good/law, given the nature of Sensitivity (which in many ways was the mystic's half of the divination school that sorcerers had). This lets the mystic sense alignment tendencies in others, something they should be able to do with that domain.

I do not see why the spell even has the evil descriptor. I mean all the spell does is let a cleric know when a person is close to death. As a cleric I would use this spell to determine who should be medically attended to first. Sorta like a triage doctor.

See, this is why it's Divination in my game. Sure, that makes sense, but... well, that's it.

Necromancy does not necessarily have to be evil...in the Book of Exaulted Deeds, there are plenty of exaulted spells from the necromancy school. There was one which was similar to the one Raistlin used on Tas at the end of the Chronicles, were he drained his own HP to heal Tas. So, I think you can make exceptions to the rule.

Good point - I'll use that option in my game, instead of detect undead.

Thanks
