#8zombiegleemaxApr 14, 2004 15:23:27 | Favorite Domain: Kartakass (the Meistersinger contests are all that). Least Favorite Domain: They're all pretty good, but if I had to chose (which I do) I pick Vechor. That's the one with the insane elf wrestling with the demon inside of him, right? I'm sure our opinions will quickly change once the corresponding gazz drops. Then they'll be our FAVORITE. Favorite Darklord: Count Strahd, of course. Long live the Gargoyles! Least Favorite Darklord: Azalin and his corny conglomeration of [followers]. Dead or otherwise. |

#15zombiegleemaxApr 15, 2004 3:21:18 | Forgot my own answers. 1) Falkovnia (the super low magic seems to bring out the more human horror) 2) Forlorn 3) Drakov 4) Wilfred Godfrey |
#16zombiegleemaxApr 15, 2004 5:49:15 | 1) Scaena 2) Bluetspur 3) Adam 4) Soth. overhyped moron from a crappy setting |
#17zombiegleemaxApr 15, 2004 8:13:45 | Originally posted by The MadStepDad Yeah! I must say, it's quite refreshing to see the number of people who share my view that Az the Spaz stinks. Then again, I hate most liches anyway, on principle. (Hmm, my uber-mage is pretty cool, but I don't have every spell and magic item ever published yet, and he's getting a little old. I need something even more ridiculously powerful and godlike. I know! I'll make him an undead super wizard!! That way I can collect more spells and magic items for all eternity!! Sw33t!!!) VNM (Although the Kargat are kinda cool....hmmm...maybe a coup d'etat is in order....) |
#18zombiegleemaxApr 15, 2004 13:17:01 | 1) Kartakass 2) Hazlan 3) Azalin 4) Soth. Go back to Dragonlance, we don't want you here! |
#19zombiegleemaxApr 15, 2004 13:21:14 | 1) Nova Vaasa 2)Todstein 3)Malken 4)Meredoth |
#20zombiegleemaxApr 15, 2004 21:31:09 | 1) I actually find it hard to pick a favorite domain, as there are many which have elements I enjoy. I'm sort of partial towards Mordent, though, perhaps because a) of all the domains it seems the one most likely to encourage heroes (even if only slightly) and b) I really like English ghost stories. 2) In general, domains that don't seem to have a purpose or an existence much beyond whacking a darklord-- solitary prisons or badly-fleshed out lands-- don't impress me. Early Ravenloft, when it was still leaning more towards 'Weekend in Hell' styles, had a few too many of these (Davion, Risibilos, Daglan). Few of these domains have survived to 3e, except for one: Shadowborn Manor. 3) Again, it depends on what I want from a darklord. I like the backstory of Strahd very well, and I actually find the current style of Azalin pretty funny (the barbed sarcasm)... but will adventurers actually meet these singular gentleman very often? Harkon Lukas is actually quite likely to at least poke his nose into the goings-on of new arrivals, if only because he probably finds the small-scale doings of Harmonia and Skald quite dull. And, if you catch him on a good day, you may have no idea just how dangerous he really is... 4) Ebonbane. The evil artifact might actually work better as a fiend in the form of an item, with a reality wrinkle and the ability to cause trouble by using its wielders as tools, than as a darklord. |
#21jinntolserApr 15, 2004 23:50:17 | Mine have a tendency to vary from time to time. At present, they are: 1) Valachan. My campaign was set there, and it was a lot of fun. 2) Markovia. There's nothing there but a few Broken Ones and a darklord with nothing better to do than create new ones. 3) Either Strahd or Harkon Lukas. Strahd has a great backstory, but Harkon Lukas is just so much fun. Heart of Midnight was a great book. 4) Meredoth. 20th level wizard that knows every spell and doesn't have to prepare.... and has no story, motivations, or apparent curse. There's nothing to him. |
#22zombiegleemaxApr 16, 2004 0:33:29 | 1) I like many elements in almost every core domains. Specially Lamordia, Darkon, Dementlieu and Mordent, 2) Vechor 3)Azalin 4)The Three Hags |
#23mortaviusApr 16, 2004 1:19:33 | Might as well add my thoughts: Favorite Domain: Lamordia (I like mad science) Least Favorite Domain: Risibilos (see the Book of Crypts) Favorite Darklord: There's really no single favorite of mine. I like so many different elements. So instead, I'll name off all my top favorites: Adam, Ivan Dilisnya, Hazlik, Stezen d'Polarno, Daclaud Heinfroth, Yagno Petrovna, Morgoroth & Diamabel. Least Favorite Darklord: Tsien Chiang. Never had any use for her. |
#24zombiegleemaxApr 16, 2004 5:28:11 | 1) Favorite Domain: Masque of the Red Death/Gothic Earth. 1a) Most Honorable mentions Dementlieu, Mordent, Paridon, Richmuleot, Sri Raj 2) Least favorite Domain: Shadow Rift 2a) Also not too fond of: Darkon, Nova Vassa, Vechor 3) Favorite Darklord: Nightmare Court 3a) Most Honorable mentions: Dominic, Jaquie, Strahd 4) Least favorite Darklord: Meredoth (and he sucks so bad there are no other contenders for the title. Help him Gaz writters!) 5) Darklord who is most under utilized: Malken |
#25windwalkerApr 21, 2004 18:58:54 | 1) Favorite Domain: The Nightmare Lands--endless opportunities for adventure. 2) Least Favorite Domain: Borca bores me to tears ('cept for The House of Lament) 3) Favorite Darklord: Tristessa of Keening (I like tragic female figures....) 4) Least Favorite Darklord: Maligno the Carrionette...I hate puppets!! |
#26hida_jiremiApr 22, 2004 8:41:54 | 1) Darkon. I love the memory-altering stuff, so it gives me loads of chances to play with my PCs' heads. 2) Nosos and Vorostokov. Geez, those are stinkers, literally in the case of Nosos. Though I actually kind of like Gregor Zolnik. 3) Harkon Lukas and Azalin (tie). Harkon is just so damn *genial* that he's hard to peg as a darklord - I haven't had a party figure it out in-game yet. And Azalin's curse gives me the sinking heeba-jeebs - not the level-limit bullcrap, but never being able to know if his *own* memories of the past are true. After all, his is the first name in the Book. I also have a soft spot for Maligno the Carrionette. 4) Meredoth. Why are you in our setting? I also despise Nosos' darklord; Captain Planet villains have no place in Ravenloft. Hida Jiremi (Jeremy Puckett) |
