Ok....first and foremost I want to make it clear that this particular thread is not a forum for discussion on the product's release or a forum for arguement about Soveriegn Press. This is a thread to simply discuss what is being done in your games. I do not want to see this thread closed due to pointless arguement that gets us nowhere....so let's please just wax intellectual about the games we are running.

That having been said....

Many of us have started Key of Destiny campaigns with the online preview chapter given by SP. For those of you who are braving the new frontiers of the unknown, what are you doing in your game to pass the time between finishing the sample chapter and the release of the full module? Has anybody started a side quest that stemmed from the sample chapter? Anybody taking some of the info and running with it? What is going on in your game?

i've been doing a lot of side quests with my party, given to them by the Legion of steel, mainly to do simple low level things, like help people who live in houses possessed by an imp, or harrass the KoT, or other minor things, while waiting for the main mod to come out.

I ran the Tracy Hickman scenario 'Anvil Of Time' from Dungeon magazine, which ran for about 4 or 5 sessions, as it plucks the PCs from a moment in time and brings them back to the same exact moment (i.e. no game-time passed, and the players got to learn a bit about DL history in a fun way, as they are complete DL newbies). We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

However, I've decided to run a few sessions of Star Wars as a complete change of pace and atmosphere before coming back to KoD once its released.

Unfortunately I'm being a player in FR currently. If we run a DL game I'll have to run it. And I won't get to DM until around Dec. So I have plenty of time to plan ahead.

I also ran Anvil of Time, took 3 and a half sessions. Chapeter 1 of KOD we burned through in 1 and a half (I had already established Pashin, before the online preview). Anvil is the best adventure I've ever run or played in. Truly outstanding.

What issue of Dungeon? Is it for 3rd Edition D&D?

It's in Dungeon 86, but it's also reprinted in Best of Tales 2. It was written for 3E, but prior to any of the Dragonlance revisions were made for the new edition of the game, so there are a few differences in Krynn-specific elements. Nothing terrible, though.

Cheers,

Cool. I'll have to go pick up Best of Tales 2 then. Without giving spoilers, could you tell me what level characters its designed for? Thanks.

Anvil of Time was designed for four 5th- or eight 3rd-level PCs, though I re-designed for three 1st-level characters and it worked out OK. The advice in the 'scaling' section is pretty general, leaving a fair bit to change for combats but there's a lot of help from the major NPCs available with a bit of diplomacy from the PCs. Some of the bit-part NPCs also need some fleshing out and some background reasoning given.

Hope that helps

Any suggestions on where I can get Best of Tales 2 (outside of ebay)? MY local book store doesn't seem to be able to order it.

I've been doing some adventures that involve a dwarven smith and a corrupt merchant in a town outside of Pashin. Also some adventures that flesh out the players charicters. Give them somthing to care about you know. Been kinda hard since they are all new to D&D and only one of them besides myself read the War of Souls.

I've also been re-reading my 25th Anniversary Dragonlance Classics which "re-tells" the WotL. But it's all in SAGA and AD&D rules...so I think by the time I'll have converted the whole thing the new War of the Lance book will be out :D

Oh well....labor of love.

I've had a thought to run an adventure about helping the elves in the sewers which could take a while depending on my imagination. Question is will there be somthing in the final release that addresses this that could potentialy contradict what I have set forth?

I think you should go ahead and convert it anyway. I don't think the War of the Lance book will be any sort of adventure book...just a sourcebook (much like Age of Mortals). I could be mistaken, though.

Of course, on the flip side of that, I bet the WotL book would be helpful intranslating Dragonlance Classics (it's the 15th Anniversary, by the way...it was TSRs 25th, but it was Dragonlance's 15th)

GenCon can't come soon enough.

*The Dark Knights are hunting the pc's.

*A thieves guild is watching them and plotting on the score that they made off with after they vanquished Pegrin's crew.
