#1exnerApr 19, 2004 8:12:21 | What DS adventures did you enjoy the most? |
#2zombiegleemaxApr 19, 2004 10:53:56 | As the only person here in Orlando that I know who has ever run a DS campaign, they would be Black Spine and Dragon's Crown. |
#3jon_oracle_of_athasApr 19, 2004 12:16:37 | Personal preference of course: Dragon's Crown and Merchant House of Amketch. |
#4zombiegleemaxApr 19, 2004 13:10:16 | Originally posted by Jon, Oracle of Athas Dragon's Crown was great. I thought the City by the Silt Sea boxed set was pretty darn good, as well. |
#5Shei-NadApr 19, 2004 13:37:01 | I'll definately have to check out that Dragon Crown adventure... never even got to read it, but everyone seems, and seemed before, to say that it was THE Dark Sun adventure. |
#6zombiegleemaxApr 19, 2004 13:44:01 | Originally posted by Shei-Nad It was... You traversed many of th places on the map, learned a lot about the history of Athas (as a player) and got your butt kicked a lot. ;) |
#7pringlesApr 19, 2004 17:20:26 | My home made adventure are the best. Seriously, i think TSR adventure suck. |

#10NefalApr 20, 2004 9:01:25 | Same as Jon... and "Road to Urik" is cool too! The worst is probably "Asticlian Gambit" or "Marauders of Nibenay"... |
#11zombiegleemaxApr 20, 2004 9:07:04 | Originally posted by Nefal See, I liked "Marauders"... But them again I am all about the zombies survival horror. What I didn't like about it was that the players interacted with a SK. IMO players shouldn't; it keeps them mysterious and awe-inspiring. Having them with human emotions makes them too human and less god-like. Same with "Gambit", you can have a superhuman hero, just not one that the players interact with. |
#12dawnstealerApr 20, 2004 12:48:42 | Actually, it's kind of fun to have the PCs meet up with an SK when they hit the "mid-high" levels (8-13). I consider this the SK taking their measure, and the PCs thinking they've made an impact. Remember that the SKs would certainly be on the lookout any up-and-comers and a player (or players) hitting these levels are having an impact on the world around them. The SKs would take a look, meet them in person, probably "scan" them (SKs, after thousands of years of practice, could certainly probe thoughts on anyone they wanted, without the victim being aware), and then decide if they wanted to kill 'em off, or let them keep going. Dupliciousness is a must in this case. SKs will (directly or no) send PCs on missions or quests where no matter which way it goes, the SK wins. Let's say a slave tribe is horning in on trade station. The PCs go to investigate and find it out. If they take out the tribe, then the SK gets to keep their station. If they fail, or join the tribe, the SK can find out where their hideout is. And so on. Should the PCs chat with SKs on a regular basis? No. Should they meet with an SK at earlier levels? Probably not. Should PCs be kept in their place if they get out of line? Yup. SKs might keep an interesting PC or group of PCs around, but have no doubt that if the player steps over the line, the SK will step on them. |
#13pringlesApr 20, 2004 14:19:38 | In my campaign (see the thread My DS campaign (The verdant passage http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=223716 ) , The player met Kalak in his tower. Well, they didnt talk to him cause they were breaking into his palace, but, its a kind of meeting :D |
