#2OrnumMay 01, 2004 16:46:16 | Yeah, that is one of the changes that I like about 3.5, but it could just be me. Since I'm a Planescape fan, I felt that the Astral should be treated that way. It's up for too much abuse without it. As far as it being so 2nd edition, as you put it, I always felt that 3e (and 3.5) should do nothing more than adapt the older material into a new, more balanced rule set instead of drastically changing everything (or just plain ignoring concepts and information that have generally been a mainstay of the game throughout all of its incarnations). As far as the 3e version of the timeless trait for planes, it gave too many "maybes". A plane with the timeless trait "sometimes" did one thing and "might not" do another. Since the description for the Astral in the MotP didn't specifiy if it was such a plane where retroactive aging and such did or didn't occur, I always assumed that since it occurred in 2nd edition, it was so for 3e. Plus, the fact that the timeless trait was changed to say that it always occurred, it seems that the original intention of the writers was for the MotP planes to have it occur for them, as well. But, since I'm not the writers, that's just a guess on my part. Of course, if you don't like it, just change it to suit your tastes. Alot of stuff that I didn't like, for whatever reason, I changed to what I felt was better. That's the beauty of the game. |
