#1GreysonMay 10, 2004 17:48:05 | Hey, all. There was a thread about constructing a Greyhawk specific Dungeon Master's screen. Has there been any progress on that project? Or, were the contributors to that thread just teasing us? War Greyhawk! |
#2zombiegleemaxMay 10, 2004 17:58:25 | I'm curious about that myself, I'd like a GH-specific screen as well. I'd do it myself, but I'm not very computer-savvy so I think the computer experts should do it. |
#3zombiegleemaxMay 14, 2004 14:06:51 | I wrote a post about a GH screen because i needed one and my old 2nd ed. screen is no longer useful... But today i don't have the time to make one, and i was looking for a beautiful one( with picture/maps of greyhawks, summary of gods and domains, of cities and alignements etc..) Someone answered me not long ago he did one, but he will need time to scan it. And another guy wrote that he will put it on Canonfire! as soon as it will be ok. That's all. Just have to wait. But if any of you can do somethings else cool, i would like to share THE UNOFFICIAL GREYHAWK DM SCREEN.. Bye. |
#4theocratissakMay 15, 2004 11:14:49 | Hi all- I was one of the people that helped to work things out with the DM Screen. I have some artwork that VShane (vshane.com) did for me and my ties to www.GreyhawkOnline.com and www.CanonFire.com. In fact the banner with the elf chick firing her arrows at the orc's is my WifeFIEND's elven archer PC that I had him draw. The other artwork is of a "real" manticore (not the 3e version of a radioactive cat) flying above ruins with a map of the Flanaess on their steps. Very awesome. I was offering our artwork for any possible GH Screen. I also have some other artwork that I purchased through RPGNow.com that is useable by any company or organization that uses purchases it that is done by the guys of HAVEN: CITY OF VIOLENCE. I am willing to offer the artwork, so long as CanonFire and GreyhawkOnline are able to host and be part of any GH DM Screen. I was also offering some ideas and potential help....alas I got busy finishing school and looking for a job. That and I stopped visiting the boards, with not enough time. Really a DM screen wouldn't be that difficult. I purchased the new and much easier to use WotC DM screen which is on it's side. I now prefer that design in a screen, but feel that the screen doesn't offer everything that is needed. What I think a GH DM Screen would need is a Random Encounter Chart like those found in the Box Sets. I think they'd need to be modified slightly, and not just copied and pasted directly for a PDF version of From the Ashes cards. A small map would be needed as well. Gods and domains might be needed, but that could be quite a bit. I'm working on an article for CF which has added domains that come from the Kalamar Players Guide, FRCS (the suggestions from SKR), DotF (I'll update it for Complete Divine), as well as the domains from AEG's word series (Mercenaries, Good, Evil and so forth). So that area is a little "iffy" in that do you only include the domains offered in official WotC products or not? But that's easy enough to decide upon. Also which gods to you depict - there are so many, so do you only do the most popular ones? And to be true to Greyhawk, you don't follow the PHB guidelines. Included on the Screen should an AC chart that includes only the most often used armors - chain, chain shirt, breast plate, shiels, etc.. Same with the weapons. No need to list the oddities. There are space considerations. And remember, it needs to be useful for the majoritiy. I'll post more when I have more ideas! |
#5zombiegleemaxMay 16, 2004 4:23:27 | Thanks for your contribution Theocartissak. I would also mention that my previous screen were quite.. large. I used 8 board of 40 cm x 26 cm. And really, it was not too much large! i hate lo loose time in action looking for info in books, or to try to decipher miniature charts with a candle light! I would suggest not to bother about the exteriore art, i think we can all do something very easily. For myself i used lot of pictures taken from th poster included in the 2nd edition montrous compedium and picture from dragon magazine. I cut some, made some arrangements, used a lot of "Greyhawk adventures" at the top of each panel, and put some "velleda" ((transparent adhesif you buy at the meter) on it on each side. 10 ye |
