#1bansheeMay 16, 2004 22:20:29 | I have ordered a copy of the book, but checked it out at the local bookstore....and I noticed that either in the Index, or the random encounter charts or something like that, it mentions the Huldrefolk. But there are no stats for them in the Bestiary, DLCS, or Age of Mortals sourcebook. Did they get cut? Banshee |
#2zombiegleemaxMay 16, 2004 23:11:32 | The huldrefolk were cut from the Bestiary, but will appear in the upcoming TOWERS OF HIGH SORCERY--complete with new art! Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#3sweetmeatsMay 17, 2004 7:24:39 | I also noticed that the Cave Lord is missing. It was mentioned in the book that came with the DL GM's screen. |
#4daedavias_dupMay 17, 2004 12:01:48 | Originally posted by jechambers Well that is cool, one more reason to get that book. Let's see, I think I am on Reason #587 now... My only question is why they were cut and put into the ToHS book? I am hugely unfamiliar with Hulderfolk, but they just don't seem at home in there. I am, most likely, confused though. |
#5iltharanosMay 17, 2004 16:33:16 | Originally posted by Daedavias One reason could be that the huldrefolk are a highly magical race originating (i think) from the Gray, a race that created the huge portals that dot the continent of Ansalon. Some examples of these portals are Frozen Past Arch (featured in Odyssey of Gilthanas) and the Window of the Stars (featured in the Eve of the Maelstrom). So, being such magical beings, it's not to much of a stretch to put them in a book that revolves around one of the fundamental magical orders on Krynn. |
#6dragontoothMay 17, 2004 23:06:52 | Dread Wolves didn't get put in there either. Which is kind of upsetting, they were such a cool monster. And I know I'll here this reply to my post "They belong mostly in the 3rd Dragonwar setting" which is unexcusable. They should of been in the book just because no other author used them in any other time period isn't an excuse of why they didn't make the cut. "edit part" Jamie maybe you could add the Dread Wolves in the Wizard of High Sorcery book as well. Since they were magically created by Galan Dracos(sp) please please please |
#7zombiegleemaxMay 18, 2004 8:45:22 | You know what really blows, I've been looking everywhere for a copy of the Bestiary and no local store carries it! For all I knew until now was that you had to order online which I hate doing (too may bad XPs there) I guess I'll have to get it and Towers of High Sorcery online. What really stinks is I live all of 45 in from where TSR used to be!!!! |

#9zombiegleemaxMay 19, 2004 12:18:36 | Originally posted by Dragontooth Dragontooth, We don't have to add the dreadwolves in, they have always been in the Towers of High Sorcery manuscript--sort of. In actuality, it's the "Dread Creature" template that can be added to different sorts of animals, making the concept more versatile. Now you know our evil secret plan! #11lorac75May 19, 2004 14:18:24 | Jamie, You just made my day with some Dread Creature news! |
#12zombiegleemaxMay 19, 2004 16:43:23 | Originally posted by Brimstone We'll have the book for sale at Origins in late June, and on store shelves soon after. Of course, I will not promise a street date until we get a ship date from the printer, but that's the time table we're looking at right now. More web-goodness is on the way soon, including web enhancements for the Bestiary and previews of Towers. Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#13zombiegleemaxMay 19, 2004 17:09:24 | Originally posted by jechambers Any chance we can get a Bestiary Art Gallery on the web? I'd like to show off how cool this book is on other sites and the pictures really go a long way toward showcasing the production values. |
#14talinthasMay 19, 2004 20:05:06 | completely agreed. the art is fantastic. also, you guys should look into making wallpaper. |
