Would they view them as oddities and something to be studied? Or would they dislike them? In the case of something that needs to be studied I can not get this picture out of my head Minoi:Where do those powers of yours come from? Psion: My mind Minoi: Oh Really! Well then, lets have a look at it.*Takes out a REALLY big knife. Psion: |

#3zombiegleemaxMay 18, 2004 8:49:05 | As a DM who has a DL campaign running, there is no way I'd allow psionics. Sorry but I've never liked them. I've only seen them played well once and the rest of the time it's the player trying to sneak things by the unknowing DM. I do love the psion/minoi covo though. lol |

They would see it as a power to be studied, to determine its source and potential. I’m sure that the gnomish guild that studies magic (forget the name) has made some scientific discoveries, yet are summarily baffled. Magic is physically impossible, yet there are some laws that govern it. Perhaps the gnomes know that the power of High Sorcery waxes and wanes with the moons, for example. So when approaching psionics, they would study it, and discover that it is a power that comes from the mind. Theories would abound on why this is, including a possible evolution of the races of Krynn. While the dialogue in the original post seems a bit funny, there’s a bit of truth to it as well. A gnome may very well examine the brains of a psion and a non-psion, comparing and contrasting. Interestingly enough, you could come up with a very evil gnome this way, perhaps with a bit of Frankenstein to give it some flavor. So while psionics are non-standard for Dragonlance, you may have an interesting adventure based on their inclusion. |
#5zombiegleemaxMay 19, 2004 13:08:34 | I seem to remember something official about the gods putting up a massive null-psionics field around Krynn. Sortof the developers way of saying "No psionics here, sorry. Not tacking them on to this system, thank you, go away." |
#6DragonhelmMay 19, 2004 13:38:33 | Originally posted by Khaibit_Ema_Neteru Probably the closest thing to that is my Krynnspace write-up. To my knowledge, there’s nothing official saying that there’s a “null-psionics field”, although there’s a few 2e sources saying psionics don’t exist (i.e. Unsung Heroes). Jamie has mentioned that Sovereign Press will not cover psionics either way for Dragonlance, and so it is up to the players and DMs to decide for themselves whether they will use psionics or not. |
