#1rathendarMay 23, 2004 23:14:57 | is there a thread or list anywhere of alreday published Dark Sun articles for 3.0 or 3.5? i know that there was a series of articles in dragon magazines, and was curious if anyone had those numbers plus other sources known of. |
#2zombiegleemaxMay 24, 2004 1:39:53 | The Dragon magazines that you would need are 315 (for defilers and preservers) and 319 for the player's information. The Dungeon (with the DM's information) is 110. But I think you'll find that most here would direct you to the other official Dark Sun at athas.org (and I would have to agree with them) so check out both and see which you like best (or take ideas from both..). |
#3PennarinMay 24, 2004 8:06:02 | Actually there's a whole bunch of other Magazine articles for DS, but its in 2E. If you don't already know about them you can find out by going at this adress: Dark Sun in Print. Also don't forget Dungeon #111 that contains the other half of the monsters found in #110. |
#4dawnstealerMay 24, 2004 9:30:47 | Out of curiousity, (I haven't picked up the mag, yet) what monsters are in #111? Is it worth it? |
#5PennarinMay 24, 2004 11:34:58 | Haven't bought it actually. Though I may. I'm actually waiting to have my personal copy of The Complete Book of Eldritch Might and A Guidebook to Mind Flayers. I hear the Miniatures Handbook has some nice PrCs? |
#6zombiegleemaxMay 24, 2004 11:59:43 | I got it in the mail the other day and it's ok. The art looks sorta like the Baxa stuff in the second MC for DS. As for the creatures present here is a partial list (magazine is at home): Fodorran Lirr Crap, I can't remember any others... |
#7dawnstealerMay 24, 2004 12:10:36 | Oooo! They're also in the Terrors of Athas! Which will the public choose? |
#8zombiegleemaxMay 24, 2004 12:26:05 | Originally posted by Dawnstealer Well, since this one has pictures, I think I'll go with it. ;) |
#9zombiegleemaxMay 24, 2004 12:27:50 | Except for a couple of new elenental thingies they are re-hashes of the stuff that was originally released in 2nd ed. and then converted by athas.org |
#10rathendarMay 24, 2004 20:13:57 | thank you very much for the replies =) quickie other question : dragon kings, avangions, and clerical elementals, scream epic prestigue classes now. is there a thorough writeup done for any yet? and will check out that link soonish! |

#12zombiegleemaxMay 26, 2004 2:26:44 | Ooh, and on the topic of releases, will the released material (Terror of the Deadland, City State...,etc.) be updated to 3.5? Either through an updated pdf or a list of changes (ala the WotC update documents)? I know it's not high on the priority list, but it once again matters in terms of limiting my printing. |

I'm putting together an Epic Bureau for the Templarate. Still evaluating some candidates. Once the team is composed, we'll look at all the conversion suggestions and use them as inspiration for a complete solution. |

#16xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 26, 2004 14:09:04 | Originally posted by Wasgo If I had to guess, and really, I don't have to guess, they will release an update to the PDF - especially since they are the ones who wrote the PDF's. It's not like these are some complex computer applications that need incremental updates with multiple files being changed for a single document. They are one-shot PDF's, and the rules are getting change to 3.5e. Too Easy, right? And they haven't been at this time - because, well, the people who are part of Athas.org do have other lives going on - like jobs and school and such. Plus - they are working on a TON of different projects for it as well, including the Core Rules and other published/released files from them, and probably around a half dozen to dozen other projects on their plate at this time - each has to follow guidelines that Wizards fo the Coast has been requiring that they follow, and require a good bit of playtesting, of which they are usually significantly shorthanded compared to full-fledged game publishers. Plus, since it's all being done for free, they kinda need the motivation to do it, which, I think, isn't as hard of a problem for some as it might be for others. |
#17zombiegleemaxMay 26, 2004 21:59:38 | Two things: 1.) I didn't expect it would be anytime soon. Right now I'd imagine the push, if any, is on releasing final copies of the core Dark Sun rules and the monster book. It's their spare time, they can use it however they want. 2.) I know how pdfs work and I was only asking because revision documents would be easier to print out for people who've already made a copy. In the past they've stated the releases are not 'living' documents, so I felt I'd inquire. I really don't know how you go from simple questions to lectures that make it sound like I don't appreciate the work involved... |
#18xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 26, 2004 23:37:37 | Originally posted by Wasgo Sorry, another misdirected bunch of frustration. I need to curb that. I don't actually feel you are not appreciating the work, part of that is simply a reaction to the method your question was written, and how I interpretted it, based on the sheer volume of rediculous posts I've seen from people. And I don't know you well enough yet Oh..... plus, Dennis Leary wrote my Themesong (you know, his famous song, the one this board system won't let me write the name of.... it's a donkey & pit, in the name). |
