Hey, I like the news of a new setting book for Taladas. It will be interesting to see what changes have taken place there, and I'm relatively pleased at Chris Pierson's entry into designing books, given his excellent world building in his Kingpreist Trilogy.

Now, it has been said that Sovereign Press' philosophy has been to keep Ansalon "mysterious" and focus on characters, character creation rules and epic storyline development rather than world-building and detailing Ansalonian cultures, in the mold of DLA.

Fair enough. However, since the Taladas Boxed Set and the supplementry products (such as Taladas: The Minotaurs) had very few alternate rules but instead had lots of geographical information, will that trend carry through to rulebook? Will we get a book which devotes half of the contents to the population numbers, politics, new npc's, displaying unique cultures and adventure hooks? Backwards Ansalon right? Please? ;)

I wholeheartedly agree! I woud like to see detailed and in-depth information on Taladan culture, history, politics, and social trends. Perhaps even sample snippets of "flavour" fiction to illustrate what its actually like to be a citizen of the Minotaur League, Armach Confederation, Tamire tribelands, etc. Also, here's hoping that SP updates the Spine of Taladas archipelago information from Otherlands , and re-introduces the Mischta and N'zunta races. The N'zunta in particular are an absolute must as a evil villain race : the original high ogres of the ancient world in all their cruel power and beauty, untainted by the compassion of the Irda and Mischta, or the crude imitations of the Ansalon ogres and their "Titans". Of course one also hopes for hard details on how arcane magic works on Taladas, and how wizards and sorcerers get along when they don't have the WOHS making a fuss, pointing fingers and squealing "renegade, renegade!" I really have high hopes for this product and its supporting novels, and can't wait till next year...

I would imagine it would be mostly "fluff", as most of the rules have already been printed in other DL 3E products.

Then again...I could be wrong.

Ooooh...hadn't heard about this! Cool! Is there a press release about it yet? Do you have a link if so?

Love Taladas...they'll for sure get my money for a d20 update.

Cheers & Thanks,

I completely agree as well. The information found in the Guide Book to Taladas on say the elven clans surpass in detail the information we have on the Silvanesti and Qualinesti cultures combine also taking into account every rpg book printed on them. Taladas was very richly detail and unique, Chris Pierson has very large shoes to fill. Good luck to him.

On a side note Sargonnas feeling in the role as the lead evil deity of fiery evilness overall kicks ass. A nice change from the Dragon Queen.

Actually, I see a chance for Hiddukel to finally step up. He's always had his eyes on Taladus and with big sister Takhisis out of the way, that's where I'd see it leading towards.

That info is in the 2e boxed set for Taladas for those interested in doing some research for that.

Just visit Dragonlance.com, the news info should still be on their main page.
