#1zombiegleemaxMay 27, 2004 8:53:11 | I have an old NES (mint working condition) that I like to pull out and play whenever I’m feeling nostalgic. There’s nothing like popping in some Super Mario Bros to make me feel like a kid again. Good times! Yesterday evening I got the urge to stop in a local used games shop to check out their extremely small Nintendo game selection. Many of the games were bringing back some great memories. Much to my surprise, as I flipped through the small stack of games, there sat Heroes of the Lance. I never even knew the game existed for NES. To be fair though, I’ve only been a DL reader for about a year now. So, at the irresistible price of 1.99, I felt compelled to grab it. Due to a busy evening, I only had a chance to pop it in for about 5 minutes. First impressions were very bad, but I’m committed to playing it out. Anyone here ever played the game? I’d love to hear some opinions of the product. Playing without the instruction booklet may be a challenge as well. Seemed like a needle in a haystack to me….. |

If you have a map of the city, you can easily find your way through the game....it's all there, and it's all accurate, which I thought was really cool. So, for $2.10...I'd say you got your money's worth. |

I never made it farther than two feet in the fist lvl (Xak Tsorath isn't it?) before falling in a hole and killing Goldmoon and then having Tas follow her down yet another hole. I turned it off in frustration. If you get anywhere in it, let me know. |

#7zombiegleemaxMay 27, 2004 15:39:19 | Nooo, we need a Baldur's Gate-esque DL game for PC! :D |

I had trouble following it, it was neat/fun, but very weird. But at $2.10, you can't go wrong ;) Definately I good keep sake, at the very least. |

#10karui_kageMay 27, 2004 19:55:31 | Personally, once you get all the FAN-made patches for it (which fix near everything), I think that the engine for ToEE would be perfect for a Dragonlance game. I loved the way they moved in that game, and personally, I much preferred the turn-base system over real-time. It seemed more true DnD to me than others. |
#11zombiegleemaxMay 27, 2004 21:33:40 | Where can I get these fan made patches? I thing ToEE has a lot of potential, it was just....I dunno, off. |

#15brimstoneMay 28, 2004 10:06:05 | Ah...I didn't realize they made one. Well, I'm sure my computer won't run it. It barely runs NWN. |
#16zombiegleemaxMay 28, 2004 12:07:59 | It might Brim, it's more along the lines of Baulder's Gate and Icewind Dale graphic-wise. Nothing too intense. But patch the damn thing first. |
#17brimstoneMay 28, 2004 12:32:12 | Yeah...I was reading some reviews and stuff on IGN. Then I looked at the patch...it's an 8.5 meg patch! That's intense. And the list of stuff they fixed goes on, and on, and on, and on.... I might have to check into that. |
#18edgelettMay 30, 2004 18:53:33 | I had Heroes of the Lance on my old Atari 520ST computer...man I loved that game!!!!! Yes it's old & crusty but I played it day after day after day..... ah, memories. |
