#1zombiegleemaxMay 28, 2004 0:55:26 | First, just want to say as a old 'hawker it is great to see all these other old fans still hanging in and all the new ones (even the ones who now think St. Cuthbert is the LN god of retribution, oh well). Now that the butt kissin's over on to my questions. (By the way I refer to the "Living Greyhawk Official Listing of Deities v. 1.1".) 1. Stern Alia: goddess of Oeridian culture, Law, and Motherhood. LN(LE). LE Motherhood? Sort of an odd combo, to say the least. Is there a write up of this goddess somewhere? If not could someone enlighten me as to how this happened? 2. Pholtus vs. St Cuthbert. As long as I've been playing and with all the crap I have I don't believe I've ever seen a reason for this hatred. Anyone know the cause? 3. The Earth Dragon: any source material telling the origins of this god? A dragon god who fell from "heaven"? A mortal dragon who got too big for his britches? Any help will be greatly appreciated! |

The only GH product I know of that evokes her name is (1E) C1 Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan whose pre-generated cleric PC worships her. I debated a long time about making her the daughter either of Pholtus or Hextor... 2] No "official" text about this but if I had to guess, I would say conflict of interest. Their respective portfolio mean they'll have to compete for worshippers in the "dura lex sed lex zealots" category. I always imagined that Pholtus took the eastern part of the Flanaess because that's where the most Oeridians could be found. St-Cuthbert took the West. GH city became a kind of middle-ground. 3] Details about the Earth Dragon can be found p.120-127 in the (2E) Slavers accessory. According to it, it's an ancient nature spirit. |

#4HalberkillMay 28, 2004 11:33:15 | Originally posted by Mortepierre Well, she has been mentioned in the Chainmail accessories, which is set on western Oerik, where she is the Patron god of the Oeridian Thalos Kingdom located there. Her face is on the shields of the Thalos chainmail minis. She is the mother to Heironeous LG, Hextor LE, and Stratis LN, though all by different fathers. It is not stated who these fathers were, but it definately sets her up as a mother god of the Oeridian pantheon. Unfortunately there is no writeup, as chainmail focused on the mini game and not the RPG rules side of it. As to LN(LE) I can only guess. Maybe she is uber LN, to the point of being technically evil in her enforcement of it. Her followers did commit genocide against all kobolds that lived NW Oerik, to the point that there are none known to exist there today (CY591). Halber |

Still, St. Cuthbert's religion does also involve a lot of telling people what to do, and they're the same alignment, and that similarity also breeds tension along geographical lines. But it isn't hatred, just rivalry. |

#7hesparexMay 30, 2004 2:54:45 | sadly now it is much more difficult for the priest of Pholtus to show the light to the nonbeliever.... darn 3.0-3.5 continual flame??? |
#8MortepierreMay 30, 2004 3:10:22 | Easily corrected. Allow priests of Pholtus access to the 0 lvl spell Flare. Problem solved! |
