#1frostdawnMay 28, 2004 11:32:53 | Does anyone know how long it typically takes to get an order from the website? I'd really like to get Key of Destiny, but my local hobby store seems to have a terrible time ordering anything, and I find I can't really depend on them to get things I want, even when making a special order. (I've waited up to 7 weeks for things I've ordered; everything from miniatures to gaming books; some things NEVER arrived like the main sourcebook for Mutants and Masterminds for example) |
#2zombiegleemaxMay 28, 2004 11:40:04 | Well, I ordered KoD from the website. They charge a $10 shipping BUT I noticed they charged me on Thursday the 20th, and I had it in my hands on Monday the 24th. If mail ran on Sunday I think I would have had it then. So it's up to you, if you don't mind the extra $10 (I sure didn't) then you can have it in just a few days. And it'll be signed by Maragret Weis. |
#3lorac75May 28, 2004 11:46:56 | I had mine on Monday as well. |
#4brimstoneMay 28, 2004 12:02:05 | I got mine yesterday...but it shipped on Tuesday. The BoK took only two days to ship as well. |
#5baron_the_curseMay 28, 2004 12:07:27 | Originally posted by AlricLightwind For $10 bucks it better get there on time. Why do they charge so much even with Priority Mail it shouldn't be that much. I know because I order a great deal of books and dvds online. |
#6frostdawnMay 28, 2004 12:17:32 | cool, thanks guys Normally I might have gone to a WotC store, but alas, that's no longer an option. Yet another reason I was peeved to see those stores go the way of the Dodo... I'm giving the hobby store the benefit of the doubt, as they say they expect the book by tuesday. If it isn't in by then, to MargaretWeis.com I go, la- la. (I try to throw the proverbial bone to help local businesses, but that kinda faith only goes so far) |
#7maladaarJun 01, 2004 1:52:51 | You could try your local Barnes and Noble, if there is a local one. My local B&N has it on the shelf. No, I have not yet picked it up yet. |
#8frostdawnJun 01, 2004 9:42:33 | Originally posted by Maladaar I think Maryland is the 'Bermuda Triangle' for Sovereign Press products. I had to special order the BoK, and to date, that one copy is the ONLY copy I've seen on any bookstores across 4 cities (downtown Baltimore being one of those 4), and NONE of them carry KoD. In fact, several different stores are quoting an estimated shipping date somewhere between 6-8 weeks before they can get any copies of KoD. This is more or less standard for Walden Books, Barnes and Noble, Books a Million, B Dalton Bookseller, Borders, etc. My local hobbyshop is the only resource that gets things in, in any semblance of a timely manner, and that is a generous estimate for them to say the least. (7 weeks for MnM anyone?) To date, the only products I ever see on shelves anywhere is the DLCS. I don't even see copies of the AoM in most shops, and believe me, I'm always looking/calling about what is in stock. |
#9zombiegleemaxJun 01, 2004 10:17:24 | I didn't mess with MargaretWeis.com(I was not feeling the shipping price, and I have had way too many bad experiences ordering stuff online.) I simply ordered the module through my local hobby store and they had it in 3 days. I picked it up on the 28th of May. ~~~ |

#12frostdawnJun 01, 2004 19:51:25 | Originally posted by LordofIllusions D'oh! I was kinda hoping you lived near me, so I could find out where you get your books, and so I wouldn't have to go through these interminable waits for ordered books. Ah well. :P Anywho, the hobby store let me down again tonight, so I went ahead and ordered from MargaretWeis.com. The manager kept stringing me along in order to stall for more and more time. "Oh, it didn't come in this time, but you have my word it should be in with our next shipment"- repeated several times over the course of a few weeks. Tonight, the manager wasn't there, and the regular workers were. They asked me when I ordered KoD from them, and when they heard about 2 or so weeks ago, they just laughed and said there is no way they'd be able to get the book in that fast, and that I'm going to have a wait on my hands. I can't stand being lied to like that. Ah well, guess I'll just order all my stuff online from now on. Live and learn. Just out of curiosity, where is everyone here from? I'm from Laurel Maryland, about halfway between Baltimore and Washington DC. I'm curious since it seems most if not everyone on these forums gets their stuff within a few days of release, and if I can get something within 2 weeks of release, it's rather noteworthy. |
#13brimstoneJun 02, 2004 9:52:38 | Originally posted by frostdawn I live in Houston...sort of. The southeast side of Houston, anyway. I just went to our local gaming store this last week. They still didn't have the KoD...in fact, they didn't have any DL products. When I inquired about this, though, I was relieved to hear that they said they were having a hard time keeping it on the shelf...I wanted to point out that it'd help if they'd buy more than two at a time...but I decided not too. heh heh She did however comment that she highly recommended the BoK because it was one of the best monster manuals she'd ever had. :D Our local Barnes and Noble also carries the DL stuff. They had every DL product (en masse) except for the DLDMS. It was nice to see it up there with the FR and D&D stuff. |
#14zombiegleemaxJun 02, 2004 10:19:05 | My hobby store at least cares about the individual I called them at the beginning of the week and asked them to order KoD for me and they had the module by the end of the week. ~~~ |
#15frostdawnJun 02, 2004 10:50:42 | Originally posted by Brimstone I'll second that notion on the BoK. I LOVE Udon's artwork in there, and it was a real treat to finally have stats and rules for the nasty critters of Krynn. I typically don't care for Jeff Easley artwork, but I gotta say, I did like that cover. I would have thought that since some people are reporting that their local Barnes and Noble outlets are selling DL stuff that the website would as well. Last time I looked, that wasn't the case, so that was kind of a bummer. I hear ya about the DLDMS. Seems for the most part, hobbystores are the only ones that carry these from what I've seen/heard. |
