#1zombiegleemaxMay 30, 2004 2:00:30 | Ok , so I have been playing Greyhawk for the past 5 years, but I dont have any of the 2nd.Ed stuff. So I was wondering if any of you got more info on the bygone Suel empire (more than in the Living greyhawk Gazetteer) I would appreciate it. By the way my character is a straight up Suel cleric of Fire and Runes (my domains , hes got this whole egyptian feel going) level 3 currently. He uses a chariot in combat (rules in S&F) and is set to restore the Suel empire. He aims to become a lich. Oh , hes LE. |

In discussing the background and society of the Brotherood, he touches on some Imperial history and details speciality priests for each of the Suel pantheon. P. |

Don’t be afraid to display it in your clothes, the way you act in public, etc.. (obviously not in the middle of a paladin convention…) Magic is in your blood. Arrogance and cruelty too (given you’re LE). However, you’ve also inherited the pragmatism of your ancestors (in a “waste not, want not” way). Portray yourself as supremely confident in your abilities. You should always be two steps ahead of your enemies and strive to keep them on their toes. Be a “smart” bad guy. If a minion blunders, don’t kill him. Death should be a reward, not a punishment. Besides, it’s normal for him to make mistakes; he isn’t pure-blood Suel. Remember, all other races are fated to either die or become slaves of the Empire. Whatever bad thing happens to them, rejoice. Whenever they discover something good, take it from them. The deities you worship above all others are Pyremius (lord of Fire/Poison) and Wee Jas (goddess of Death/Magic). Your ancestors were destroyed by the Bakluni. Hate them, and then hate them some more. The only good Bakluni is a necroanimated Bakluni slave. You want to acquire magic, lots of it. The most powerful, the better. You’re not afraid to deal with Outsiders. Your ancestors “tamed” them. No reason you can’t do it too. Remember, some of those outsiders were already “alive” when the Empire was still standing proud. They could be a valuable source of info. You wish to become a lich, so invest in Necromancy. Fake interest in hunting down undeads to better discover their secrets. Do-gooders love to tell you what they know when they think you’re on their side. I am sorry to say that, from what I know of it, the Suel Empire was nothing like ancient Egypt. Think Melnibone (from Michael Moorcock) instead. However, your Egyptian style would certainly add to your aura of mystery, which helps to awe peasants. If you want hard info on what's left of the empire, check this. It's straight out of the work of G. Gygax himself. |

#7chatdemonJun 06, 2004 4:45:00 | If you're open to non-canon info, CF has a couple morsels you might find interesting: Suel Imperium: Age of Glory, by Randy Richards It's a PDF file of an epic style adventure, but Randy included tons of notes on his vision of the ancient suel. Also, visit CF and search for "chatdemon", then check out my Forgotten Gods of the Suloise series of articles. I tried to include little bits of lore about the suel in each one, so you may find something you like. |
