Even if most of the novels related to Mystara weren't all that good, I think it would be fun, and even useful to see some writeups of their stats.

Which heroes and villains from the various Mystara novels would deserve to see a writeup?

From the Tainted Sword, I found only Lady Yvaughn really interesting.
But write-ups on Johauna and Dayin might also be nice.
And maybe Karleah.

AND THAT'S IT !!!

Actually, I think a few more might be interesting. I am also thinking about coming up with some suggestions to an alternate storyline for many of the characters, since that of many of the novels doesn't fit with canon.

Penhaligon Chronicles (off the top of my head):
Fain Flinn
Lady Yvaughn
Johauna Menhir
Dayin
Karleah Kunzay
Braddock Briarblood
Lady Arteris (Already existing NPC)
Verdilith

The Black Vessel:
Mazrooth Al Yedom
Hernan Costa

Dark Knight of Karameikos:
Sir Grygor (Spl?)
Baron Yuchiev

Others:
Thelwyn Foxeyes (Dragonlord Trilogy)

Cant think of anyone else at the moment. Anyone want to help me out?

Well, there's Dayin's father. That evil wizard. Cattle-named. Auroch? What was his first name? Toryl? Talyn? T-something...

Anyways, the idea of an alternate storyline sounds good - since many of these characters indeed seemed like interesting people stuck in the wrong plot.

I can't remember his name either. Also, what happened to Dayin in the second and third novel? I always felt that that whole part of the storyline didn't make sense.

And it was so annoying that Sir Maldrake was actually Verdilith in the first book. It was so obvious that I was really hoping it would be someone else.

I have three problems with the overall plot:

1) Not really a problem but: The whole story is so incredibly sad. Its just depressing. For a D&D trilogy, I'd really hope for something better

2) Doesn't really fit with timeline. Stefan is a king, Arteris is a baroness. Yet, the Black Eagle is still around. The destructive events in the end dont seem to occur in the timeline.

3) Cosmology problems: Flinn achieves Immortality in a very odd way. Granted there are more paths to immortality than the ones presented in the Masters Set/RC, but why he would achieve immortality escapes me. Also, why does he worship Thor? He should stick to the immortals associated with the Church of Karameikos or the Church of Thyatis, rather than an Antalian Deity. Vanya would fit much better.

4) Cosmology again: The whole Mystara stealing magic from the World of the Abelaats doesnt really make sense to me. IMC I made the Abelaats into creatures from the Nightmare Dimension who feed on magic and magic-users. They may have been summoned by the radience, as a side effect of its magic draining. Come to think of it, the whole crystal-thing might be linked to that.

I'd love to write an alternate storyline for the Trilogy, using the same characters. Rewriting the actual novels, I'll leave for someone else though....

Thoughts, anyone?

I see Thor as a suitable deity for Flinn.

Thor is quite popular in parts of the Thyatian Empire, at least I get that impression.

You are right. Thor is mentioned among the Thyatian Immortals in DotE. IMC, I removed the Norse and Traladaran Immortals from the list though, to easier distinguish between the various churches. Vanya fills the Warrior role in Thyatis, and I also added Gorm as a patron of strength for the Thyatians. I decided to include the Cynicedians in the pantheon since they need to get used more IMO.

Still, I probably shouldnt expect novel authors to pay attention to what changes I make for my own campaigns... ;)
