#1zombiegleemaxJun 10, 2004 23:24:01 | This will eventually turn into a thread to talk about using UA in our DL campagns, in preparation for when I do an article on it. But as of now, this is more of a list. You see, while I myself wouldn't use the generic classes introduced in UA, I know of a few people that would, so I converted all the DL characters to the generic class system. Instead of using 3 classes(Expert, Warrior, and Spellcaster), or even 4(seperating Arcane and Divine Spellcasters), I am using 6, for the Priest, Mystic, Wizard, and Sorcerer. THe advantages for using the generic class system is not only for flexibility, but also because in the D&D rules, Clerics are fair tanks, but in the novels, clerics never wear armor and they never wade into combat like a D&D cleric might. Of course, I will have to make a variant system for focused magic for Wizards and Priests, but this is just class levels anyway. Also, I noticed that often, the same person will have different stats in different books(from the DLCS and the AoM), like Franatik or Kasmir di Kyre, or even in the same book, like Cheifton Donnag. In those cases, unless Jamie or Chris give us a definite answer, use whichever one you wish. I prefer to use the one with either the highest level, or the one that has a full stat block. Another note, the only NPC class I am using is Commoner, none of the others seemed to fit in Generic Dragonlance. Final note, I used the following conversion fro classes: Fighter, Barbarian, Monk, or Paladin are Warrior, Rogue, Mariner, and Noble are Expert, Wizard, Sorcerer, and Mystic are the appropriate class names, Cleric and Druid are Priest, Ranger is half Expert half Warrior(I used my best judgment on odd numbered levels), Bard is half Expert half Sorcerer(again, best judgment). Prestige classes work as normal, with the following adjustments: Thorn Knights base Fort requirement is only +3, and the Nomad Shaman only requires 2nd level spells.
