Okay, let's imagine for a second that Dracula finds himself in Ravenloft, and the two counts discover the place isn't big enough for the two of them...what do you think people? Count Strahd Von Zarovich versus Count Dracula, who wins this fight?

Presuming Dracula translates directly to an AD&D-style vampire (that whole level-drain business notwithstanding), Strahd still has the edge on resources in spells alone, not to mention human (and possibly Vistani) assistants.

Well, Dracula would be in Strahd's turf, so I guess Strahd would win. But if they were to be in some sort of "neutral zone" where the land would not be a help to either, they'd probably both lose.

Aren't they the same person? :D

Well, let's just say that they both have their usual ressources. Both have human servants and, as Orodruin mentioned, they are very similar as far as character concept goes. Still, I think that, even though Strahd wasn't the first Count, his spells give him an edge over Dracula. And that's without mentioning that those spells also let Strahd have an army of zombies...

Actually, if you compare their 1st edition versions (yeah, Dracula's stats were printed in one of Dragon Magazine's November (Halloween) issues) Drac was significantly stronger. Still not a spellcaster though, but I think he would have still had the advantage over Strahd (who was a 10th level Magic-User in 1st ed.)

Dracula has appeared in 2nd Edition in the Masque of the Red Death setting as a Nosferatu vampire and a fairly uber one.
Strahd, as a high level necro, would kick his ass.

Dracula gets chased out of England and across Europe by a psychiatrist, a cowboy, a high society diletant, a solicitor and a Doctor who studdies occult phenomenon (essentially 3 "Experts", 1 "Aristocrat" and Quincy who could be an Expert, a Warrior, or maybe a Ranger).

Strahd survives assasination attempts and leads an army into battle as a man. As a vampire he survives serval attempts to snuff his life both by high level adventurers (presumably including Clerics, Wizards and Paladins) and another ancient vampire weilding an artifact.

Strahd wins. Handily. Doesn't mean Dracula the modern archtype of vampires is any less cool.

Well, about Strahd surviving Jander Sunstar's attack with the artifact, it was explained in "Vampire of the Mists" that it was because the realm of Ravenloft wanted to keep Strahd "alive". Nevertheless, even if Strahd is a copy of Dracula in many ways, I say Strahd wins. As for my favorite one, I don't have a favorite character, because as someone else stated previously:" Aren't they the same?"

Strahd would win indeed. He has all of Dracula's powers plus he's a spell caster. The only real edge Dracula has is that he can go in broad daylight.

Dracula is out of its turf, with lesser resources and minions... Strahd was in home turf, with al resources and minions at his disposal... that why Van Helsing and the rest try to get to Dracula before hi is on his home... he would be unstoppable there.

Also in Earth there was no magic... so it would apply.

LOL, well to tell the truth... yes both are megalomaniacs... but Dracula wins... he can travel, so he will say good by to old Barovia cross the border and laught at Stradh... and I like Strahd...

Its not about combat between them, that comes at the last where there is no other posibility, both like to plan, and both like to use proxies... it would be a battle of wits and intellects... and Dracula has proved he would retire in the moment he fells its not safe... and this time he would arrive to his mark.

PD: also Dracula is already 2 character is Ravenloft... Stradh is his undead counterpart... and Vlad Drakov is his live one... of Vlad Dracula, in who is supposed to be based the Dracula's novel

Although Drakov looks more like Rob Zombie....
