Gonna start a campaign in Greyhawk in a few hours, never played there. I've read the LGG and Player's Guide (2e). Any advice to make the players get the Greyhawk feel (and me too!)?

Play on the differences of the human races and language let the players know that common tongue is just that a few common words that are suitable for trading purposes but for the most part cannot be used for vast communication.

Also change the dilect a bit such that Flan speech from a Sheildlander is different than flan speech from a Perrenlander. Also remember the importance of the political situations in Greyhawk as they are key to the settings feel.

The gods are ok as well but I always feel that allowing the PC's to learn about religion through actually roleplay is better than force feeding them information. Except for Iuz most information on gods should be kept to a minimum unless you have a priest in the party than that character would need to know the basics of the history behind his deity to at least get started. Though the most information you can give this character the better.

The rest depends on the type of campaign you want to run but Greyhawk is just that a setting where the line between good and evil is very thin indeed.

Check this thread since it deals with the same question.

We ought to make a sticky FAQ thread on top of the forum since that's a question we get at least once per week ;)
