#1baron_the_curseJun 22, 2004 2:28:14 | I was re-reading through Heroes of Hope and I came across the section detailing Krynn’s Pantheon. The author of the book felt that Artha qualified as a goddess worth mentioning in the hierarchy of the gods. I remember Artha being very grotesque and more on the level of a demigoddess than anything else. However, the character was intriguing enough for me to remember and I was wondering if there be any mention of the “forsaken or forgotten” gods in any upcoming Dragonlance products. As the goddess of greed and lust and I think she would make an interesting opponent to Sirrion and Hiddukel. I'm thinking of building a small, very secretive cult of followers of Artha that work to undermind the churches of the aforemention gods and of course her mother Takhisis. |

#5DragonhelmJun 22, 2004 11:01:07 | Originally posted by Baron the Curse You know, I'll tell you a secret. Gotta promise not to tell, though. ;) I would like to see a conversion of not only Jiathuli, but all the monsters in Wild Elves to 3e. However, that's something I'd like to see on the Nexus. The way I look at it, Artha and Jiathuli aren't what I'd consider canon. They are a part of previous DL products, and so I feel that they should have some sort of modern take on them (hence, the Nexus). At the same time, I don't consider them to be part of the core cosmology, and as such I don't feel they belong in Holy Orders of the Stars. I would like to see that book reserved for the core 21 gods, the High God, and Chaos. Hope that makes sense. |
#6baron_the_curseJun 22, 2004 14:52:56 | I’m being optimistic here but Artha if I recall correctly first appeared in a Taladas Adventure supplement. If this is the case I would like to see her return with the new Taladas upcoming products. I think there can be a reasonable and interesting story behind how this demi-goddess remained beneath Chaos radar during the Chaos War. For that matter imagine Artha still around during the Fifth Age working quietly to undermined Takhisis, who taught all this time Krynn was hers alone. As for Jiathuli and all the critters in Wild Elves I’m actually working going to start working on that conversion since I’ll need it for my campaign. I’ll be glad to share with the Nexus when I’m done. |
#7DragonhelmJun 22, 2004 15:16:06 | Originally posted by Baron the Curse Cam would know for sure, but I believe she first appeared in the DLE modules. She's mentioned in one of the 5th age boxed sets (Heroes of Hope?). As for Jiathuli and all the critters in Wild Elves I’m actually working going to start working on that conversion since I’ll need it for my campaign. I’ll be glad to share with the Nexus when I’m done. That would be fantastic! Thanks, man! |
#8cam_banksJun 22, 2004 15:20:13 | Artha's actually from the DLE series of modules, not from Taladas. I'm willing to be corrected on that, but I think she's Rick Swan's creation. The DLE series are the very earliest of the 2nd edition Dragonlance products - in fact, they came out the same year as the 2nd edition AD&D game, more or less. Cheers, Cam |
#9talinthasJun 22, 2004 15:40:40 | artha is completely rick swan. (as a side note, there's a name i hope to never hear associated with DL again) Taladas introduces new names and portfolios and flavors for the core 21 (plus high god), but nothing overtly original. |
#10inkubusJun 22, 2004 17:38:12 | Hi guys Artha appeared for the first time in DLE1 and died at the end of DLE3. So let her RIP... Cheers, Inkubus |
