They're supposed to be more intelligent than normal animals though (since they're tribal), so this should probably be an advanced option. The draconomicon provides the option of using young wyrmlings as familiars. Perhaps we could do the same with juvenile versions of Mystaran monsters. Young Aranea anyone? Slightly off topic (but related) what kind of familiars would Herathians have? Giant silk worms? Flies, wasps, bees? |
