#1zombiegleemaxJun 29, 2004 21:05:19 | I just got the 15th Anniversary of Dragonlance, I know I'm 5 years late :P I got Cams first Conversion, and I haven't read it over yet but I looked through the table of contents, and noticed there weren't any conversions of the Heroes of the Lance. I was wondering if I skipped over it, or if it wasn't really there. And if it really isn't there, does anyone know where I can find the conversions? Thanks in advance. P.S. This will be my first time running/playing through the classics DL1-DL15. I'm psyched!!! :D |

#4zombiegleemaxJun 30, 2004 9:54:37 | Ooops, sounds like you are having a private conversation. Many people dont like that. I for one am not one of those. |
#5cam_banksJun 30, 2004 9:58:33 | Originally posted by Amaron Blackthorn Yes, we had a private conversation, but it was taken to the private message system here on the WOTC boards. Which is what they're for. Cheers, Cam |
#6zombiegleemaxJun 30, 2004 10:44:40 | How can we get the 3.5 or 3.0 update of this product if it is available? |
#7cam_banksJun 30, 2004 10:50:11 | Originally posted by Amaron Blackthorn There isn't one, and there aren't any plans to publish one at the moment. The War of the Lance book should cover a lot of the ground that the modules did, however, and it's due out around August. No firm date of publication has been announced, as that's not something Sovereign Press can make available until they get more information from the printers. Cheers, Cam |
#8zombiegleemaxJun 30, 2004 11:04:20 | So the Towers of High Sorcery and the War of the Lance source books will be out around the same time? |
#9zombiegleemaxJun 30, 2004 11:52:51 | The Dragonlance Nexus, I just f ound out, has conversions of the first two DL modules for 3.0 and from what I was able to read, they look great! |
#10candideJul 13, 2004 20:25:01 | Anyone know where I can get scans of the maps that were in DL1? I just got the conversion to 3.0 from the Dragonlance Nexus. -Candide |
#11zombiegleemaxJul 13, 2004 20:47:57 | Are you guys talking about that one that has both the SAGA and Classic DnD systems incorporated into the module? If so, I do own it and it is a very good supplement to read, fills in a lot of gaps and in some cases has some better ideas about certain things in regards to the campaign. |
#12zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 11:08:09 | Does it address how Theros got the Silver Arm? |
#13zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 15:30:15 | Originally posted by Candide You can legally purchase PDF copies of the old Dragonlance modules from www.svgames.com -- which has lots of old TSR material. I think anyone running D&D3e conversions of the old modules will really LOVE the War of the Lance book. Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#14zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 15:35:37 | when is the War of the Lance book supposed to be out? |
#15zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 15:39:21 | Originally posted by Amaron Blackthorn The WAR OF THE LANCE book will be in stores in September, though we are very hopeful of having advance copies for sale at GenCon in late August. Thanks! Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#16zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 15:41:04 | [stupid double post] |
#17zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 16:01:37 | I've enjoyed playing the classics so far, my group only has gotten to right outside of Xak Tsaroth. Most of my friends though, are more addicted to their MMORPGs.. Grr... That's why I haven't gotten further in the classics... I can't wait for the War of the Lance source book. Right now, I'm caught up on all of the products out so far. I just got Key of Destiny and the DM Screen today. Now alls I need to get is the Towers of High Sorcery when that comes out, and it is looking spectacular may I add. Then the War of the Lance source book and I'll be quite content with my collection heh.. Unfortunately, my group will probably be focusing on a new world that I'm making and I won't get to play a straight out DL campaign :/ P.S. The artwork for the DM screen is awesome! P.P.S. I just realized that I also need to get the Bestiary of Krynn. So right now, my priorities are 1)Bestiary 2)Towers of High Sorcery 3)War of the Lance. Coincidently enough, they are probably going to be released in that order(excluding the Bestiary). Now all I need to do, is find myself a job so I can afford these when they come out... hah |
#18zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 16:06:03 | My group has just left the Inn of the Last Home after Toede pops up! |
#19zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 17:16:05 | Has anyone else run the Classics with a group of people who are the original Heroes of the Lance? |
#20zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 17:21:39 | Well, I have a group of 4 players. Goldmoon, Raistlin, Caramon, and Tasslehoff. What happened to the other four was that they stayed behind to distract the seekers, and they ended up being caught. |
#21zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 17:55:18 | But no one has run a group without using the orignal Heroes? |
#22zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 18:09:58 | Originally posted by Amaron Blackthorn They might have, but that's not what you asked. ;) Originally posted by Amaron Blackthorn I've talked to a number of groups who used different heroes, though it seems the "classic" experience is playing the Heroes of the Lance. My own original Dragonlance used the heroes--and several of the same players ended up running the Second Generation characters for a pre-Chaos War campaign years later. It's always interesting to see how the experience of playing Dragonlance is similar, but also how it varies from group to group. Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#23zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 19:40:02 | Originally posted by Amaron Blackthorn My current campaign is an alternate history WotL and the Heroes of the Lance are not in use. |
#24zombiegleemaxJul 15, 2004 0:04:29 | Originally posted by Amaron Blackthorn I have run the entire Classics (if that is the compendium we are talking about) back when it came out. We did not use the Original Heroes of the Lance however. Our 'Companions' consisted of, amongst others, a Ninja, a Red and Black Robe mages, some other things, it has been a while. BUt it was a long time ago. |
#25zombiegleemaxJul 15, 2004 12:01:24 | How did the Red and Black robe get along? |
#26qstorJul 15, 2004 16:43:23 | If I can get the WotL book at GenCon I'm going to start a campaign with new PC's using Goldmoon and Riverwind as NPC's. I hope to get ToHS and the Dragonlance Bestiary... Mike |
#27zombiegleemaxJul 15, 2004 20:43:29 | Originally posted by Amaron Blackthorn Well, the two PC's whom played (I believe I was using the Half Elf Ninja in that campaign) had played together for a while. The Black Robe's PC was well aware of how the Black Robes went against Takhisis in LEGEND OF HUMA and so wanted to ensure that his Black Robe did NOT want Takhisis to dominate the realm. |
