I had heard talk in the greychat about some sort of Ether-business but neglected to check into it. Well I finally did and here is the update, it's quite horrific.

Another Flannish land bites the 'dust'. Slowly but surely Eastern Oerik is getting gobbled up and devastated. Will there be anything left by CY 998? ;)

Maybe Gygax's Gord books under New infinities were more prophetic than I thought.

Maybe Greyhawk is doomed to be destroyed, whether from a planned out continuity theme, or unplanned incongruous themes from people that need to save the world from total destruction every week.

I dont think Greyhawk will ever die. It may eventually have nothing published for it but as long as there are people like my DM and myself I think Greyhawk will live on. Canonfire is a good example of how DM and players can keep it alive.

I became a Greyhawk DM 2/3 years ago and it is because of my DM who has been in it from the beginning. As long as the older guys keep welcoming in us new guys and helping grasp the world and it it's ins and out, it will live on.

As much as anybody I would love to see great stuff published forever but if I have to, I will carry the game on myself. I have grown to love the world of Greyhawk. Hope I don't sound to pathetic and thanks for reading my 2 cents.

Eh, that was one of the most optimistic comment I ever read. I wish more reacted that way. Keep up the good work, friend

Some folks do seem determined to bulldoze the place now don't they?

I agree that as DM's there is no need to abide by some other DMs' desire for mass apocalypse. I just like to think that the rcent surge of evil has been a case of the Balance shifting and that things will get better.

All I'll say is watch this space (or rather the space soon to be occupied by the Children of the Dust series for LG).

All I say is, it's living greyhawk. Ignore it.

To those of us who don't play in RPGA games, it is 100% meaningless and will never see "real" publication, so really, who cares what they do with it?

Never is a dangerous word. I never say never!

Some of those Living Greyhawk plots strike me as well, odd. I'm not saying that's bad or anything, but that ether threat plotline seems a little lame when you compare it to the multinational war that was raging in Tenh and the political and combat oriented adventures you could've written about that. Seems a little over-the-top to invent a completely new threat where it isn't needed.

Yeah CP, that's what I was thinking. What was once a good three or four way struggle between vastly different cultures was wiped out without any precursor. Was Tenh 'used and abused' because it has no meta region status? Surely such an ambitious storyline would've never been promoted in say Keoland or Nyrond. Could anyone imagine them razed of all organic life?

Even though I don't play LG I had found myself adopting alot of things 'attached' to it from the LG Gazetteer to the LG Journal. I've never seen more than teasers of LG storylines and often when they would leak something to the public like this I'd be pleased, but this event was eye opening for me and has now left me more skeptical in what I will adopt in my own game.

Hey, how about if we ignore you, Rich. Your nay-saying distracions are reaching Delglath (from Austrailia) proportions.

Like Paul mentioned above - keep your eyes open for the Children of the Dust series. The COR4-06 Duke of the Dust scenario is very good, I think. And there are two more after it to sort the issue out. Watching the issues unfold in Tenh from other LG regions has been pretty cool.

Yes - I have to say I was surprised when the Ether plot decided to nuke Tenh, but in this game you gotta play the hand you're dealt.

I can guarentee that Children of the Dust will involve a lot less extraplaner real estate development and lot more intrigue.

These are Core modules btw - so anyone who goes through the online RPGA sign up process (a bit of a pain, but hardly rocket science) should be able to lay hands on them if they're interested.

If you're not - well, move along, nowt to see here.

Of course as an author you must advertise your own product:D

Seriously, i'm waiting for a change to play them but I don't really know when an opportunity will present itself.

Some of the original Ether Threat modules were ok to play, though I think they were quite a rip-off from Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. A change to return to Tehn will certainly be an interesting for my character who survived the onslaught while still being quite a low level character (well...he is still only a 6th level character). Or maybe he will not bother and my secondary character will take up the challenge.

btw, when will we see a follow up on 'Traitor's Road' ?

Oh, come now, I'm far more of a blow hard than Delglath!

To those of us who don't play in RPGA games,

There's another forum here for discussion of solely LG issues, so when I see something posted here, I assume that both LG fans and non-LG fans are being queried.

Forgive me for not being a fan of LG or this ether invasion nonsense.

I tend to ignore the living campaign as a whole myself, however with Paizo changes to "living approved" rather than "living," It may finally be time that the triads will no longer cause content relative to their area to be hindered by the "must be triad approved" clause (or lack there of.)

I know of alot of great writers just waiting to let some imaginative writing get its due and I'm ready.

I'm not discrediting the triads, but it's about time Greyhawk opened all the way up which I view as the 2nd best option next to it being totally closed and only official works being published for it.

A follow up to Traitor’s Road?

Well…Creighton Broadhurst’s Icespire (due out for LG this October) touches on some stuff the Bright Desert stuff we’ve been mucking with. I think Stuart Kerrigan was working on a direct follow up to TR – but this may have been put on the backburner by real life work issues. I have no current plans for a follow up. Not to say there won’t be one in time tho’…

Well, greyhawk is one of the best D&D settings, but they need to sell more books and campaign settings so they make up Eberron and the likes. Eberron is pretty good but it's exagerated (magic items everywhere!
