I heard the WotL will be an original by Elmore.

Excellent! He´s the master! As far as I´m concerned there´s no one better than Mr. Elmore when it comes to visualizing Dragonlance.

Stawiki is the offical artist for DL now thought isnt he?

I don't think there's any official artist for DL now, SP can correct me if I'm wrong. But Stawiki seems to be the predominant artist for DL now. I think they let Elmore do the WotL cover since he's the guy to visualize it for the at era 20 years ago. They must've been felling nostalgic when they decided it. ;)

The way I heard it (or recall hearing it...I may be remembering it wrong), originally it was that they were going to try and get Elmore to do all 4th Age stuff, Easly would do all pre-War of Souls 5th Age stuff, and Stawicki would do all post-War of Souls 5th Age stuff...but this is obviously not the method they're sticking with (since Easly has painted a few outside the said domain). So who knows who will be the artists for these products. I would hope that Easly is the artist at least for the Specter of Sorrows. And as much as I like Elmore better than Stawicki...I'd like to see Stawicki do the art for the War of the Lance book (so as to match the other era sourcebook, Age of Mortals).

So...I guess I'd prefer to see Easly do the adventure related material (modules, Bestiaries, etc.), Stawicki do era sourcebooks (WotL, AoM, etc.), and Elmore do organizational sourcebooks (ToHS, HOotS, etc.

But, that's just me.

I like Brim's idea here, mainly because of the strengths of two of those artists. Elmore has always had the ability to capture characters well, which in my mind totally is appropriate for ToHS and HOotS (Which by the way I want to see Crysania on the cover of for some reason......and some actual info on her in the post war of souls era). Stawicki for me has always captured the mood of the eras with his paintings....while his character portraits are not always agreeable with fans, I think they look the best and totally elegant, which to me is what the era books need.

RE: Stawicki

Not on or in my WotL book. No offense. Personally, he's more suited for the SAGA and 5th Age material, which I'm happy ( :D ) to ignore.

Good lord...was that even necessary?

Huh? Did Stawicki paint anything for SAGA...? I thought Easley did the covers for for the SAGA material. Oh well...goes to show how much I know

Nope. Totally unnecessary.

Nope, you're right...all SAGA material covers were painted by Jeff Easly, except The Bestiary (which doesn't really have a cover painting)...and maybe The Sylvan Veil...and Palanthas...I'm not sure who painted those last two.

Pfew! For a second there I thought I was lost in the Dragonlancian stoneage (knowing full well that there is no stone age period onn Krynn! ;) )!

As for the Palanthas cover, Todd Lockwood (one of my top-3 fantasy artists) did that one. The Sylvan Veil cover was done by David Martin.

I like Lockwood as well...he's done some good DL pieces...although for the most part, I don't like his metallic dragon design...the wings on half of them are just weird.

Anyway...he did Chaos Spawn...which could be my favorite DL piece ever.

Different strokes. I myself love the dragon designs of Lockwood.

I especially love how each dragon has a distinctive look. Elmore's dragons look exactly the same except for the colour. Far too boring for my tastes. So I definately take Lockwood's dragons over those in the DLCS.

Agreed! It is an awesome painting. Personally I wouldn´t mind seeing some more Lockwood art in/on the Dragonlance products.

My vote for the WotL book (getting back on track here) would go to Larry Elmore and the Specter of Sorrows would go to Easley (sort of a continuation thingy )

I think we should count ourselves blessed to have such fine artists involved. Personally, I don't mind who does what as they can all do it far better than I could ( although perhaps the 2D stick dragon could find its niche - maybe in the peasants handbook )

It would be cool to see the former Chosen Prophet of Paladine on the cover as well as to know what is going on with her. Maybe a painting of a council of the gods for the HoOS?

She's probably on her death bed...or close to it. She has to be over 90 years old if she's still alive.

Yeah but that took place shortly after the Second Cataclysm...like 10 years or something. So Crysania is only 60ish. Much more believable.

She is a great character. Maybe she will be featured in one of the trilogy modules? We can hope.
