#1zombiegleemaxJul 16, 2004 9:13:13 | I have a couple friends with a large backlog of Living Greyhawk modules and stuff. Anyway, they've offered me access to their collections and I'm wondering which of these, if any, are satisfying modules. I know this should be posted on the LG board, but I also thought to ask here. Just in case. Any thoughts? |

#5GreysonJul 16, 2004 11:02:11 | My favorite among recent scenarios is COR3-15 Nine Lives. I also like COR3-17 When Orcs Attack. I hated COR3-19 Folly and COR3-14 Hunt for the Rogue was just as bad. The Children of the Dust series is good, but the rest of the Year 4 Cores are pretty bad. I can go on, but I don't want to bore anyone. Check out Nyrond's scenario ratings HERE. Players and judges have voted on their favorites in our region. Maybe it will help you get an idea for yourself. Good luck. Let us know what you come up with for yourself. |

#7zombiegleemaxJul 16, 2004 15:37:12 | ugh....9 lives...the most annoying of modules. witch hunt was pretty good. |
#8erik_monaJul 16, 2004 18:51:52 | I wrote two Living Greyhawk scenarios, both of which I think are worth checking out. The first, "River of Blood," is one of the first Core scenarios from year one. The second, "As He Lay Dying," is from Year 2. Both take place in the city of Greyhawk, with the latter involving a voyage along the shore of the Nyr Dyv to the port city of Leukish, in the Duchy of Urnst. By Living Greyhawk standards, both are "core" scenarios. --Erik Mona Editor-in-Chief Dungeon |

#10zombiegleemaxJul 17, 2004 14:27:50 | I have access to the following modules: Day of the Dwarf Winter Tears Tower of Lore Grave Occurence Fortress Field Maneuvers Highway, Low way Ruins of Velstar keep Plea from Beyond the Grave A Cup of Tears Eyes on Orlane Fury of a Cold Man's Heart Out on the Hunt Festival Knight Bleeding Moon Exposing Kyuss Which of these can be recommended? |
#11zombiegleemaxJul 19, 2004 9:58:42 | Yes, these are 2 of my favourite Greyhawk Cores, because they actually feel like Greyhawk. No Greyhawk module in LG has captured the grim and dark feel of GH City like River of Blood, and As He Lay Dying started an interesting 3 way plotline involving Iuz vs. the Scarlet Brotherhood vs. the PCs. The overall arc between the two modules is very subtle and even impinges on the recent Maure Castle revival. Erik - any chance you will ever return to your grand plan in Living Greyhawk, either through cores or through Living Greyhawk approved Dungeon adventures? Your arc was certainly the most interesting of the core plots to date. I also recommend the Dust Series, a trilogy of modules by Paul Looby that detail the fate of the Tenhas after the ether threat. Scratch away mentions of the Ether plotline (which is minimal) and they'd make an interesting trilogy of modules for taking the PCs to the three-way war in Tenh. Most of the stuff set in the Bright Desert is good as well ;) Stuart Originally posted by the modest Mr. Mona |
#12zombiegleemaxJul 19, 2004 10:00:07 | A lot of these have retired (I presume that's why you're posting here, not in the LG boards). Festival Knight is good and is best set in Furyondy or there abouts, it's an old adaptable module. It cannot be run as part of the LG campaign though. It has expired. This is an ex-scenario... ;) Stuart Originally posted by mystic clown of death |
#13cwslyclghJul 19, 2004 11:51:31 | I thought "Day of the Dwarf" was a Living City adventure... anyway of the ones mentioned I thought "Festival Knight" was the most interesting, and I didn't think "Fortress" was very good at all. (I haven't actually seen several of them on your list).... A Cup of Tears is by SKR isn't it? or am I thinking of a different scenario... if it is the one I am thinking of it is an ok adventure, but has some illogical elements. |
#14erik_monaJul 19, 2004 12:57:26 | The sad truth is that these days my day job takes up so much of my time that I can't imagine finishing the "Absolute Power" series in the format of Living Greyhawk tournament scenarios. I may try to exorcise some of my demons in Dungeon, however. You'll note that the "octychs" idea received some play in the "Maure Castle" adventure, and may even play into the upcoming second Adventure Path, if I continue to head in the current direction. --Erik Mona Editor-in-Chief Dungeon |
