Well, I thought I'd share what my players did with the KoD campaign so far, and hopefully entertain you as much as they did me. Just a warning, however: while I make sure that the campaign has a Dragonlance "feel" to it, some of the parts that normally would have called for seriousness have comedic results. My players are great roleplayers, but coincidentally they are playing characters with quite a bit of humor. :D

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I started them out in the the city of Pashin, in the typical and over-used "everyone is conveniently in the same tavern" fashion.

Introductions: Note that these levels represent what they are now.

Kurama, the Draconian Stoic, Sivak Barbarian3, LN: Kurama is not so intelligent, but posesses an ample amount of earthly wisdom and common sense. He is a Sivak Draconian, and uses an alternate template that he and I came up with, so as not to handicap him too much or make him too powerful. He wields a two-sided axe, and does not have much of a sense of humor.

Kurama was raised by the mountains: his clan was killed by a human raid when he was very young, and so he had to raise himself...he joined up with a group of Knights of Neraka, wishing to become one. However, after he saw how they had degenerated into a group of thugs, he changed his mind.

Mikhal Aergis, the Badass Clown, Human Rogue1/Fighter1, CN: Mikhal originally wanted to model his character strictly after Wolverine from X-Men, as that was his childhood hero. Along those lines he wanted to eventually take some sort of Assassin PrC, so he started with Rogue and would later head into fighter.
Mikhal is always ready for a fight, and always jumps in regardless of the odds. He likes to enter fights no matter who he is saving or killing..he just likes fighting. He also cracks jokes in-character whenever he can, so his character has gone a little astray from the Wolverine deal. I consider that good though, because even clones in other worlds aren't as fun as unique characters.

Mikhal used a shortsword at first level, but later got a "Blackaxe," which will be explained shortly.

Laurentia Cut-purse, the Man-hater, Half-Silvanesti Rogue2, CN: Laurentia has lived in Pashin ever since the early days of her youth, where she was orphaned for as long as she can remember. She started out fending by herself by picking people's pockets, but was caught a few times and learned to be more careful. She then started working as a street walker, and would rob customers during their after-act rest periods.

She sees males as creatures of a lesser breed; those that can be used for various purposes, but definitely not to be trusted. She is very independent and hates anyone trying to help her with anything. Her player is probably the best roleplayer of the group, and just watching this character in action is fun for me as DM.

Laurentia started with a Light Crossbow and Shortsword, but has since moved up to using her +1 Rapier as her backup in place of the Shortsword.

Two Moons, the Suspicious One, Kagonesti Mystic2, CG: Two Moons is the quintessential Kagonesti; wary of anyone, especially non-elves. He can be a humorous person when he feels comfortable with someone, but his humor is often degrading and consists primarily of satire and sarcasm. It's funny that he's the healer of the group, because he often likes to tease people as he heals them, or makes them say something like "Two Moons is extremely attractive and ladies love him" before he heals them.

He wields a Morning Star and a Light Crossbow.

In the city of Pashin:
The characters start in Pashin, where the opening scene is a tavern brawl. Mikhal jumps into a fight between two lumberjacks, and the whole place explodes in fighting. While Laurentia shakes her head negatively, Kurama helps out Mikhal who is being overrun by the many people attacking him. Just as it looks like the two will win, Two Moons walks in and looks at the fight. He shrugs and sits down at the bar, and non-chalantly orders a drink.

After the fight, the guard takes away those that initiated the fight in the first place, and clears everyone else from the bar so it can be cleaned up. Laurentia blames Mikhal, calling him a lout. Mikhal decides he is going to head over to the closest tavern, and Kurama asks if he can join him. Laurentia demands they don't, because that's where she's going. Two Moons laughs and sayd they should "Make a party of it."

As they head over to the tavern, they see Kelwick and Mayleaf being bullied by the Ergothian, and Mikhal, seeing a fight, attacks the Ergothian. His friends jump in, and Mikhal and Kurama beat them all senseless. Kelwick tells them he's in their debt and give them directions to his hut.

The characters head to the Wounded Crow, where the Herald has just arrived. He tells his story and the crowd goes nuts..another fight starts when people start throwing stuff at the Herald. Two Moons and Laurentia dive behind the countertop while Kurama and Mikhal take on all comers. They move to help the Herald, and the four head outside with him while the fight continues inside. Two Moons heals him, and he tells them of the Key.

The characters argue about the validity of this while Laurentia heads around town to do some Gathering of Information. They find out where Pegrin's camp is, and Two Moons has the idea to have Kelwick scout it out. Kelwick does so, and brings them a crude map. The characters decide to head out and attack the camp during the middle of the night.

Kurama heads outside the back way, and Laurentia and Two Moons attack from the front. Kurama kills the first guard at the far end without much noise, and Laurentia scores a critical hit to kill the guard on her end. The Listen checks made by those in the tents isn't enough to hear anything. Two Moons attacks his guard but misses entirely (1), and they engage in combat. Kurama is fighting his second sentry as the camp wakes up.

Before anyone can leave their tents, however, the main tent goes up in flames. Derg exits his tent to see Pegrin's tent tied securely in the front and burning, and rushes toward it. Mikhal, who had done the work, intercepts Derg along the way and engages.

Kurama finishes off his second guard while Laurentia kills Two Moons' guard by shooting him in the back of the head. Cole finally leaves his tent and sees the carnage, and tries to run...and gets cut down by another bolt from Laurentia.

Mikhal kills Derg cleanly, and the characters rest as Two Moons heals them. After the characters check Pegrin's tent and find his scorched body, the only thing they see that can be salvaged is a thick wooden chest with fire damage. It is easily broken up, and all of the items, including the Key of Quinari, are taken.

More to come!

Sivak Barbarian3, LN

So how are you dealing with his level adjustment and the fact that he can't rage because he's lawful?

Other than that, the story so far looks pretty cool.

Yeah, he's very much into his roleplay; he chose the Barbarian class because he felt that would represent his character's development the most...that having been said, he doesn't ever rage.

I got rid of his level adjustment entirely and gave him +2 Str, -2 Wis, and -2 Int. He has no racial HD or feats, no natural armor, and only his wings and his tail. Not very realistic per se, but it gets the job done.

So should I keep doing this? I figured people might want to see how I ran it, and especially those who frequent the boards that had a part in its creation...but if I'm just wasting good forum bandwidth, please tell me. :D
