- Well, you could had been captured in the vicinity of the city, and sent as a slave to sacrifice altar.
- You could have offered yourself to do it (sometimes it's better than becoming an undead)
- If you insult the SK I guess you would be sent to the altar too ;)!

My guess would be - look up the ancient practices and rituals of the Aztecs. Draj was modelled very much after the Aztecs, and I'd guess there'd be a lot of similarities in what rituals were done. I remember that there was a popular sport played by the Aztecs, and the winners of the tournements willingly gave themselves up for sacrifice to their gods - so something similar could probably be developed for Draj.

What i'm looking for is some general laws of the city or of city states in general so I have some guidelines to give to my players, and does anyone have a reference to the attire of the Draj templars? I seem to remember that they were dressed in elaborate feather outfits

I was throwing some ideas around and came up with a couple of laws.

1. no killing inside city limits (slaves excluded) all duels must take place outside the city or in the arena.

2. to disobey a templar or to subvert the SK is a death sentance.

etc.

got any more for me?

If you have access to the 2e supplement The Veiled Alliance there was some info which detailed most of the city-states. Good flavor and fluff book.

City-State of Draj, pg 28, the 'Dress' paragraph.

The head priests also wear more elaborate apparel.

A search for 'priest' of the document will reveal more.
