Hey there, fellow Planescape fans.

I'm on a *very* limited budget (expensive college, girlfriend, etc etc) but I've managed to free up $10 to allocate to downloading some old Planescape pdfs. (Back before I had all these constraints on my D&D funding, I managed to acquire ALMOST all of their material, but there are a few that eluded me.)

I've decided to get the Planes of Law boxed set as one of the two that $10 will purchase, largely because I'm a big fan of the lawful planes (Mechanu and Baator especially).

My other thought was to purchase the titular boxed set download. I've always thought that the Planescape way of handling the fiends was unique and wonderful (Faces of Evil is among my favorite purchases from 2e)... can anybody who has Hellbound comment on the quality of it's information, etc etc? Naturally, I have come to expect very high things from PS writers, but I was wondering if somebody could tell me what exactly it contains.

It's a very good set. It includes a history of the war, some of the roles played by other creatures in it (slaad, yugoloths, modrons, etc), it goes over some of the tactics and battlefields involved in it. It includes some new magic items and spells, mainly for use by fiends against fiends, but they can work against PCs too. It includes rules for powerful fiends becoming clerics or wizards. I think this is the module that mentions varient versions of some fiends, like the cornugon that is bred or altered so that it loses its lightning bolt ability but gains something else (can't remember what) because Tanar'ri are immune to lightning, and it makes little sense for some of the strongest Baatezu soldiers/generals to go out and fight an enemy that is immune to its most powerful offensive ability.

There are also tips for PCs, which gives basically a decent summary of the war, and mentions ways of getting involved and precautions to take.

Then there are the adventures. They are pretty decent. The last one ("Squaring the Circle" I think) involves the PCs actually having a significant impact on the Blood War, in a way which is treated as canon for the rest of the line (remember the notes in Faces of Evil that mention how the Baatezu and Tanar'ri have mysteriously lost their ability to teleport without error recently?)

If you like the fiends and the Blood War, then this is an excellent purchase. It's really top-notch stuff.
