Does anybody know of any source (canon preferable) which details any of the Baatezu nobles who serve the Lords of the Nine? I'm trying to detail them for my next Planescape campaign that's going to have some heavy Baatorian involvement.

In particular, roughly how many should there be? Do we know the names of ANY of them?

(I just recently acquired Hellbound and Planes of Law and haven't yet poked through them all the way, so if my answers lie there, please just let me know.).

Let's see.

I can only remember Amon, Bael, Hutijin, and Titivilus.

Amon served the desposed Archdevil Geryon and appeared as a wolf-headed humanoid.

Bael was a bull-headed humanoid wielding a telescoping morningstar.

Hutijin appeared as a large pit fiend.

Titivilus was a winged, horned, cloven-footed humanoid.

Sources include Green Ronin's Legions of Hell (now The Book of Fiends), Dragon #75 and #76 (really old school), the 1st edition MMII, and Necromancer Games' Tome of Horrors (which I don't have). Also: the Book of Vile Darkness mentions some powerful servants of the Nine, Planes of Law mentions powerful baatezu who might be considered nobles. Some of those included here are technically members of one of the lower castes, or servants of the Nine who are not baatezu.

If what you want is a list of all the nobles known, I'll try to make a list. After some thought, I decided to include the nobles which have been promoted since 1st edition (Baalzephon, Bel, Furcas, Zaebos, Zapan, and Zimimar), with the implication that their posts have been filled by someone else. Other nobles, especially in those layers whose rulers have changed, may also be different now.

There might be more than this, of course, but I think this is enough.

You can find a description of them all in the Book of Vile Darkness as well.

Well, not all of them.

Anyway, I notice that Dicefreaks' new Chapter 1 suggests that each layer has exactly nine nobles serving under its lord, as well as an undefined number of powerful half-fiends and other evil creatures in various positions in the infernal court. There's a nice symmetry to that.
