#1 zombiegleemax Aug 09, 2004 1:23:35	So, I've always thought that the Blood War was between the Tanar'i and the Baatezu, who lived in the Abyss and Nine Hells respectively. However, I just found out after playing PS:T that the Baatezu actually come from Baator. So, where does the Nine Hells come from? Is it just another name for the Abyss or what? Thanks!
#2 Shemeska_the_Marauder Aug 09, 2004 1:38:50	Baatezu come from Baator, sometimes known on the prime material plane as 'the 9 hells' or 'the 9 hells of Baator'. Different names for the same plane.
#3 ripvanwormer Aug 10, 2004 21:11:53	Note that Baator has nine layers. Each of those layers is a Hell. Similarly, Bytopia's two layers are the Twin Paradises, and Celestia's seven layers are the Seven Heavens. The Abyss has hundreds or perhaps infinite layers, so people mostly just call it the Abyss. The name "Baator" was created for the Planescape setting. Before Planescape came out the plane was only called the Nine Hells.
