#2zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 19:44:31 | Holy Hell!!!!!!!! Now that was a good read......how much and where and when can I find this book???????? Must continue reading!!!!!! Oh what a teaser chapter!!!! |
#3zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 19:45:29 | Well, we've got the book up for pre-order on the site. Or it should be in stores in the next couple of weeks! Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#4zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 20:13:31 | Jamie, First off - this is great. Buddy of mine is picking up both ToHS and WotL at Gencon for me. (if you run out before he gets there - I'll kill him). Secondly, is the cover art depicted on the pre-order of WotL mock-up art or is that the actual cover on the product? I am not displeased with the art - I've always liked it. Just wondering. |
#5zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 21:13:07 | I have a question...... The description of War of the Lance says that it includes a poster map of Ansalon. I can only assume that it is a map of Ansalon circa the Fourth Age.........What I want to know is if we Post War of Souls players are going to get a poster map at all? Perhaps Pre War of Souls Fifth Age on one side, Post WoS on the other? |
#6talinthasAug 11, 2004 21:22:13 | yeah, the prologue (which was left out of the ARC i have) goes a long way in explaining the events of the novel. |
#7zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 21:24:10 | Aaaaah what a teaser!! I NEED THAT BOOK!! Already booked it at my bookstore, so I´ll get a call as soon as he gets it Aaah the wonders of modern communication As for the poster map. Well there´s always the web Enhancement on the wizards site. I´ve used it and it works fine. As for pre- and post WoS...did Ansalon even change in appearance? The only thing I can remember about landscape-altering events was the darkness lifting from Nightlund. And the cities should pretty much be the same as before...shouldn´t they? Please feel free to bash my head with a skillet if I´m wrong! Ravenmantle |
#8shnikAug 11, 2004 21:31:44 | I can't quite find the post, but I'm pretty sure Jamie said there wouldn't be a map in WotL anymore... |
#9zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 21:40:08 | Says there is one on the Pre Order description.......I assume that means there is one. |
#10cam_banksAug 11, 2004 21:42:55 | Originally posted by Serena DarkMyst There was going to be, but that didn't eventuate. So, the book is much longer in page count and there are smaller regional maps in the geography section, so it's still an incredibly good deal. Full color throughout! Cheers, Cam |
#11zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 21:48:58 | oh man!!!! That means that the release only gets 99 points out of a hundred even..... -.- I may just wait until the afternoon of the day it comes out to pick it up then. ;) |
#12zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 21:51:51 | Right now I´m sitting in my tent just outside the bookstore, desperate to be the first to buy WotL! It´s freezing out here! Ravenmantle |
#13DragonhelmAug 11, 2004 21:53:00 | Originally posted by Ravenmantle Amazingly enough, Ravenmantle has cable. |
#14zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 22:01:56 | Now the question is.....Can we get the Huma comics mailed to him at the tent? |
#15zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 22:05:22 | Yup! And a huge widescreen TV! So that´s all good Ravenmantle |
#16zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 23:17:23 | Alright.....Im bringing a Winnebago and camping in Ravenmantle's lot. Anyone comin? I have doritos!!!!!! And a glove box full of dice! |
#17ferratusAug 11, 2004 23:22:40 | Chemosh has just became my favourite god. A foppish and jealous god of death, contemptuous of the gifts he gives. Great way to break a stereotype, being a fresh breath of air from the sepulchural death gods who would necromancy in adoration. It also makes sense as to why Takhisis always wanted to shag him. Much better than the fat and slimy Hiddukel, the decaying Morgion, or the whipped weiner Sargonnas. |
#18zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 23:37:20 | No kidding......I thought the way he was portrayed was fresh, and very cool. I truly hope to see more of this with the gods, breaking new ground with them. Actually...Chemosh reminded me very much of Lestat from the Vampire Chronicles in his attitude. |
#19talinthasAug 11, 2004 23:40:49 | ...and later, he'll emulate lestat in a bunch of other ways as well. |
#20zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2004 23:42:30 | Awesome.......does anyone else get the distinct feeling that dragonlance is going to become a setting where undead are the greatest threat? |
#21ferratusAug 11, 2004 23:51:13 | Yeah, I caught the not-to-subtle hint that this is going to be a story about vampires. After all, which other undead is portrayed as beautiful and youthful? What other undead pact is seen as desirable? Makes sense, given that vampires have always been the princes of the undead. They make excellent clerics and aristocrats. Would this be the origin story of why vampires are on Krynn? We've only had one minor vampire NPC in Krynn before, and he was very forgettable. I don't think he appeared anywhere outside of "Tales of the Lance". |
#22talinthasAug 12, 2004 0:26:40 | for what its worth, the original fifth age version of the war of souls was going to also feature a lot of undead. i'm very impressed with where this is going. |
#23zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2004 3:29:49 | ...and later, he'll emulate lestat in a bunch of other ways as well. ... He becomes a pop star? |
#24zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2004 8:14:26 | Originally posted by Serena DarkMyst Sorry Serena, circumstances out of our control prevented the poster map from being included in the book. (Though it defies the realm of believability, our cartographer suffered a heart attack the same day a lightning-based electrical surge fried his computer.) We tried our best to make up for it by increasing the length of the book from 224 to 320 pages--including a huge geography chapter that clocks in at 92 pages. (This does not include the Cities, Strongholds, & Ruins chapter which is impressive in and of itself.) I'll fix that pre-order description today. See what happens when I cut and paste? :D Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#25zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2004 8:22:03 | Hey....it happens....that really is a shame about the cartographer. Best wishes to him from the DL fans! |
#26zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2004 8:32:55 | Ooooo vampires. You know I listened to the Ashes and Amber clip and I read the prologue, but for some reason I didn't put the two together. I hate it when that happens, serves me right for trying to use my brain before I've had my wakeup juice. I've never thought about vampires in Krynn before, has there ever been one here? Such a great idea, I like where they're going. Right then, I'm packing my bags and heading to hang out with Ravenmantle. I've got my laptop and some DVD's, all we need now is some Jolt or Denmark's equivalent. |
#27cam_banksAug 12, 2004 8:34:53 | Krynn has vampires like any other D&D world. All of the standard D&D undead have been represented in the setting in the past, although I daresay the horrible corpse-like type have been more common in the wake of almost four hundred years of constant war, unrest, plague, famine, conflict and hardship. Cheers, Cam |
#28zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2004 8:56:51 | What we see in Amber & Ashes isn't exactly vampires, though vampire lore certainly inspired them! I don't want readers to go in expecting a vampire book, because in the strictest sense there are not vampires in the novel. There is a death knight. :D Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#29zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2004 9:07:43 | Originally posted by Koranith Cool! I bet we can get a group discount! ;) Jamie why did you have to mention the vampire´ish thing?! Now I´ll lie restless in my bed waiting for that book! ;) Ravenmantle |
#30brimstoneAug 12, 2004 9:31:08 | Originally posted by jechambers See!?! What did I tell you? Dragonlance is cursed...albeit an odd one. :D How else can you explain that? Unless of course the lightning also caused the heart attack... Anyway, best wishes to your cartographer for a speedy recovery. |
#31calabozoAug 12, 2004 10:42:21 | Excelent I cant wait to get the book! Im a little confused, ppl are talking about getting ToHS and WotL this month, I thought only ToHS was going out this month, can someone confirm this? can someone tell me when are goign to be out those books? Thanks |
#32brimstoneAug 12, 2004 10:52:42 | Originally posted by Calabozo Well...as far as stores go, ToHS will be out September 1st and WotL will be out October 1st. But both (apparently) will be available at GenCon. From what I understand...both are already on their way over on (if you pardon the expression) "a slow boat from China." It takes a long time to ship anything over seas via boat. I know I was going to get an item from Korea...it was going to take almost 4 weeks to get it to me if I had it shipped "Sea-mail." |
#33green_cloaked_sorcererAug 12, 2004 10:56:24 | Originally posted by Brimstone Not that its anythig big but I think they are getting flown over here because it will take so long to boat them over. But yea both going to be at Gen Con, as will A&A. Not to mention a whole lot of gamers! GCS |
#34zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2004 11:34:31 | Originally posted by Brimstone War of the Lance has been printed (hurray!) and is shipping advance copies by air so we'll have them next week at the show. The rest have to go by sea, which will take some time. Towers has already made it into the states and will hit our warehouse just in time to have it at GenCon. Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#35brimstoneAug 12, 2004 11:35:55 | Originally posted by Green_Cloaked_Sorcerer Only the advanced copies for GenCon are being flown over...the rest are being shipped via boat...which is why (from my understanding) it won't be widely available until October 1st. |
#36marius4Aug 13, 2004 18:57:46 | Hey guys...can someone help me out? How do you get to the preview of chapter one?? When I click the "bookwrapped" interview link, the video doesn't play. However, unless it's a video of Margaret Weis reading the chapter aloud, shouldn't a link or something pop up anyway? I love the prologue. What a cool way to breath some fresh air into Chemosh, and the gods in general...errr...or would that be a blast of stale, decrepit tomb air? Anyway, I'd love to continue reading thru chapter 1, but what am I doing wrong?? |
#37zombiegleemaxAug 14, 2004 16:11:32 | Does anyone know if Amber and Ashes will contain any spoilers for the Key of Destiny trilogy? |
#38zombiegleemaxAug 14, 2004 16:16:26 | Originally posted by marius4 It appears that your computer is not advanced enough for the video; try going to an Internet cafe. The video consists of a depiction of Margaret Weis talking about the book. |
