In many of the original Planescape modules, there is a point where the party is going to a portal across the Cage, and the writers interject that, as sometimes going to buy a pot of tea can be an adventure, the DM is free to throw some sort of mini-quest into the mix at this point.

So, does anyone have some ideas for what kinds of Random Sigil Encounters we could have?

An old lady is crossing the road directly in the path of an oncoming runaway horse and cart (or an illegal street racing chariot ;) ) that she does not see.

If someone in the party pulls her out of the way and saves her she turns into a couatl, thanks the party and says she was testing them. She needs a human/demi-human (or at least a non-outsider) to walk into a guild or faction headquarters to try and retrieve a seemingly innocuous object (a portal key or somesuch.) She can't enter the place because an alarm will go off if an outsider passes the threshold.

A trio of bleakniks is playing in the mouth of the alley that the PC's need to cut through. They have to bribe them to get them to move out of the way.

Silly add-on to that: once the PC's are in the alley the bleakniks turn on them and demand [german accent]"You give us the moneys, or we f***s you up." "Ja."[/german] If asked why they're doing this/intimidated/negotiated with they will respond [german accent]"We are nihilists. We believes in nothink." "Ja." [/german]

A mephit flies up to you as you walk down the street. It intones a memorized message" "General Trieste, I bear a message for you from her illustrious highness the Princess Ara Mandelia. She says to you: 'General Trieste, in days of yore you aided my father to defeat the armies of the Dark Lord Kaluk Ahan. He has risen again to plague the good souls of my kingdom. He has captured me and holds me prisoner in an oubliette in Undersigil, somewhere beneath the Lady's Quarter. I was only able to get a message to you by the graces of this good mephit. Help me General Trieste, you're my only hope!'"

A small black cloud forms in the sky above you and a loud voice booms forth: "Traitor! Here is the price of disloyalty!" The mephit barely has time to squeal in fear before it is struck dead and incinerated by a bolt of lightning.

"Who is this General Trieste?" you ponder to yourself as you watch the mephit's ashes float away on the wind. You have never heard his name before this moment. "Oh well, guess I gotta go rescue a princess" you mutter as you trod off towards the Lady's Quarter.

The party comes upon a shockingly confusing sight: a group of (however many) Dabus. What's so shocking about this group of Dabus? Instead of repairing the city as normal, this group is actually destroying parts of it! Radomly causing nonsensical destruction. The party must investigate (the Dabus are actually a group of Sinkers and Xaosmen under a guise of Dabus who have formed an alliance to further their own interests).

The party is aproached by a group of blood and peanut butter coated Chaosmen and Slaad, who have been having a friendly discusion about which group is more chaotic. They've decided to let you come up with a test.
No matter what you choose, they both agree to do it.
Chaos ensues.

A squad of Hardheads (with a higher up among them) mistakes the PCs for a band of wanted criminals and tries to arrest them. If the party goes without a fight, they drag them in front of the Guvner judge who reassigns the case to the Court of Woe. They escape with a "Slap on the wrists" (for looking too villanous, apparently).

If the party feels the need to defend themselves rather than come along though, life quickly becomes rather hard for them… if they don't escape then, they'll be sentenced to time in the Prison. If they kill any hardheads in the process, and then are captured, they're sentenced to the Vault (the sentencer's having a bad day). If they do evade capture after killing a guard, the Harmonium and the Mercykillers are searching for them, and anyone who needs a bit of jink is hoping to turn them for the reward. It might take a deal with the daemon to get them out of this one... Shemeska's offered a way out, if the PCs dare take it. And if they don't... well, she knows where they are, and soon the Harmonium might too.

U could always try a "Enemy of the State" kind of thing where the PC's bump into someone being chased (Mercykillers or HArmonium chasing them) and get passed a package. though they dont know it. This package could then be wanted back by both the chasers and whoever had the package before hand.
