Question involving a gully dwarf and magic...

A little disclaimer type thingy: I know that in 2nd edition, Gully Dwarves couldn't become Wizards but I thought this would be an interesting NPC to throw at my PCs when we play KoD...

Here is a short background for this Gully Dwarf character

She is very intelligent for being a Gully Dwarf and found a spellbook in a ruin she was living in.. She began to read it and understand it a little more until she started casting spells... When she could do this she realized that she had to leave her village and seek out more spells to learn... She ran into a human mage and she asked him for some spare spells, the mage left out a laugh and said "Get out of here maggot"... And she really liked this name so she kept it as her own... Now she is out in the world trying to learn about magic...

Now.. My question is do you think the WoHS would track down this Gully Dwarf at level 4 (IF she even makes it that far)? I've heard stories about Wizards passing by people they didn't think were smart enough or just wasn't a big concern and was wondering...

And another question... are the WoHS even strong enough to hunt down any renagades?

If the time of the game is held in the current year (about 421 AC) after the WoS then it's unlikely that the gully dwarf will be hunted down any time soon. She possibly would have studied the magic and when the god returned is when she cast he first spell. Who knows maybe one of the other gods of magic has plans for her. ;) Goodness knows they need wizards and especially wizards that aren't afraid to get down and dirty, heh. :D

The Gully dwarf wouldn't draw attention from the WoHS until it was able to cast 3rd lvl spells. Which would be a tough feat for a gully dwarf, but hey its your character.

But if the WoHS knew the dwarf was casting arcane spells as a wizard they would invite it to take the test at the appropriate time.

Thanks for the answers! I don't plan on taking her past 4th level in wizard, because I figure that very very very few Gully Dwarves can even cast spells, getting to 3rd level spells and further on must be almost impossible. If she lives longer than 4th level I'm probably going to have her go into rogue levels after that.

But I doubt she'll get past 4th level, because I have a tendency of killing my NPCs when my PCs start to like them :D

Another interesting thing I thought would to have my Gully Dwarf take up a profession in cooking... Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I heard someone mention one of their Gully Dwarf characters tried being the group cook and I borrowed that idea from them...

This reminds me a bit of the Kobold Black Robe NPC in Cam Banks's game. His explanation is that the Orders are sort of hard up for members right after the War of Souls, so they aren't exactly going to say no to anyone. Kender and Gully Dwarves, this might be your chance.

The subject line had me expecting a bad joke thread. "A gully dwarf walks into a magic shop, and he says to the wizard, he says..." [insert long story here] " ... and the kender answers 'That's no ogre, that's my sister!'"

I was under the assumption that in the past, Pre Chaos War, that the Test was by invite only. Not everyone got an invite to take the test, only those deemed "worthy" by the Conclave. Of course you could always acquire and cast higher level magic. Then you ran the risk of being found oiut, dubbed renegade, and forced to take the Test, be imprisoned forever, or killed.
