#1kalanthAug 17, 2004 14:16:55 | Just this past weekend I went into my local RP shop to find the Key of Destiney book, and it was still not on the shelf. I ask the shop owner, and he tells me that sovereign press is not even in the buyers catalog anymore, and so he can't order any of their stuff. Is there something going on I should know about? I can't find anyone that has the book in the state of Colorado, and wont be here long enough to order it online. |
#2iltharanosAug 17, 2004 14:33:53 | Don't know about Colorado, but I can tell you about Sov. Press in North Carolina. Everywhere I go I see their products, be it hobby shops, Borders, Barnes & Nobles, or Books-a-Millions. |
#3silvanthalasAug 17, 2004 15:11:22 | Originally posted by Kalanth I too am having a hard time finding it in Colorado. I've seen everything else to date though in stores (including The Bestiary). I don't see why ordering online is a problem when alot of places will ship overnight/express, if you're willing to pay for it. |

Quick let Sovereign Press know that the plan to deprive the good people of Colorado of the War of the Lance Book is in danger!! Uhmm... just kidding. ;) I personally don't think there is any reason it wouldn't be sold there. I would contact the sales department of Sovereign Press (sales@sovpress.com) and ask them. |
#5kalanthAug 17, 2004 22:07:14 | Well, to be honest, calling the customer service counter would have been a bit to sensical, so I figured I would post it. As for not ordering it, pay day aint till the 1st, and moving day is on the third, I am sure somewhere between Colorado and Maryland has it. :D |
#6zombiegleemaxAug 18, 2004 6:07:59 | Originally posted by Kalanth Key of Destiny is available from www.amazon.com -price $16.99. |
#7frostdawnAug 18, 2004 8:33:07 | Originally posted by Kalanth Perhaps you'll have better luck finding it here in Maryland. Where are you moving to in MD? |
#8zombiegleemaxAug 18, 2004 10:56:12 | Key of Destiny was at my FLGS, which is where I got my copy, it is also for sale at Border's. I see it, on the shelf , everytime I go there. ~~~ |
#9kalanthAug 18, 2004 17:26:00 | Originally posted by frostdawn Moving back home, into my wifes old house, in Annapolis. After my tour in the miltary, its so nice to be going home again, and to know that its for good (unless they recall me). I did check the local Borders, and nothing, along with Barnes and Noble. With only two weeks left in the state, I am not going to stress it, I will look on the way home. I do find it curious that so many stores can't even find Soveriegn Press in their catalogs. |
#10greylordAug 19, 2004 0:16:12 | I haven't seen anything other than the DLCS and Age of Mortals here in Central Texas either. I'm moving soon however, and hopefully the new location will have better access to DL material. |
#11frostdawnAug 20, 2004 14:08:30 | Originally posted by Kalanth Here's an early 'welcome back' then. Actually, I'm not all that familiar with any shops in downtown Annapolis that might have the book, unless a nearby area like Arnold or something might have it. I'm 20 odd minutes away in Laurel, and have seen some copies here. Local vendors take their good sweet time getting things in from time to time, but they do get them, so if you don't find KoD before your return trip, you can find it here. |
#12kalanthAug 20, 2004 18:18:03 | Originally posted by frostdawn For you, check out main street in Glenn Burnie, just off Ritchie Highway, there is a D&D/Comic shop there, along with Fud's Rabbit Hole in Passadena. Lived in Severna Park for 15 years, so finding some of these should be no problem. I think that there is another just off main street annap, heading towards the capital building, at least there used to be many years ago. If I was home right now, I know I would be holding that book at this exact moment. |

I can't find anyone that has the book in the state of Colorado, and wont be here long enough to order it online. Any customers who tell you they can't get a hold of our products, please do one of two things: Either give us the name of your game store so we can track down the problem, or ask the game store what distributor he orders through. We don't deal directly with stores, we sell to distributors who then fulfill their own orders to the retailer. If the distributor isn't getting the information out to the stores, then we need to know about it! Feel free to contact sales@sovpress.com if you need help getting our product. Key of Destiny is completely sold-out in our warehouse, though I know it's still on shelves all over the place. We also have a few copies in stock here, though after Dragon*Con they might be completely gone! Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#15silvanthalasAug 31, 2004 10:41:49 | Either give us the name of your game store so we can track down the problem, The Wizard's Chest in Denver. It may have just been my luck that they had sold the one or two copies they had (they never have more than a couple of anything on the shelf for game books), but I checked in a few times. I ended up ordering KoD from Amazon.com along with Margaret's newest book from Tor. We'll see how it goes with ToHS and WotL though. |
#16zombiegleemaxAug 31, 2004 10:47:08 | Another suggestion when dealing with your retailer is to tell him what you're looking for. Stocking games in today's market is tricky, but almost any store owner will special order something for you, and allow you to pre-order an upcoming product. While we appreciate the direct sales from our websites, the hobby game store is the backbone of our industry, so we always encourage you to try those stores first! #17frostdawnAug 31, 2004 12:24:06 | Like my location says, I'm in Laurel, MD, between Balitmore and DC. My local hobby store uses a distributor called "ACD", but the distributor to date has had a rather lousy track record of getting SP products in, in any semblance of a timely fashion (KoD took an extra month or 2 past it's official release, same with BoK). They do get them in, but they take their good sweet time about it. I don't know if there is anything you guys at SP can do to help smooth out this process, but I still wanted to share just in case. |

Try the Game Parlor in Chantilly, VA. They have all of the SP products and that's where I get most of my stuff. |

Thanks for the suggestion, but that's over an hour away, plus beltway traffic, which could take even longer. Any other suggested places? I've placed an order for ToHS with a local shop called HobbyWorks. This will be a litmus test of sorts to see how long it takes for them to get a book in, "officially" |
