I'm looking for material that contains stats for the Sorcerer Kings, of course Dregoth's are available in City by the Silt Sea, but the others?

are they available?

also, I'm looking for suggestions on how to convert 2nd edition AD&D into 3.0 (which I'll then convert to NWN engine) so that challenges are maintained...

character progression really got beefed with 3.0 and 3.5 (obvious to all of you, I'm sure), and I'm having issues making City by the Silt Sea a challenging module for 3.5. (thanks to Wizards for the Caller in the Darkness stats in the Expanded Psionics handbook!)

any ideas? websites? I am **** about using only official content or my own, but any 2.0 - 3.0 conversion site or method would be helpful!

thanks,

n

The official DS3 rules for handling Advanced Beings and other Epic goodness haven't been completely formalized yet from Athas.org. My own personal ideas for how to make the Sorcerer-Kings, and calculate their classes/levels, I've posted a couple times - of course, they aren't completed stats, and do require knowledge of my personal Advanced Beings rules, which I've since changed a bit, and will be on my new website, once I get it up and running again. I have posted them once or twice here before in these forums, and I would normally say "do a Search", except the Search function is broken. If you want, I'll post wha I have again.

Go to Athas.org for your conversion goodies.

Good luck.

1. I cannot stress the importance of checking out Athas.org. for the official conversion rules for Dark Sun.

2. Other sites that are good are Grummore's site (siltskimmer.net) for a set of links, Nytcrawlr's site (crimsonsun.org) for some additional ideas, and there are a bunch of others, Dawnstealer, cyrus9a, Jon, etc. The list of sites can be found on Grummore's list of links.

3. Once my site goes up again, my own Advanced Being (Dragons, Avangions, Spirits of the Land, Cleric-Elementals) rules will magically reappear. (Still no timeframe for when that happens.)

4. There also is another conversion out there, and if I don't mention it, even for the sake of completedness, one or two people here would think I was intentionally forgetting it, as I personally dislike the conversion. That conversion was in the Dragon and Dungeon magazines - I forget the exact numbers, but there were 2 magazines of each, I know one was #110, and another was #319, but I don't remember which goes where, and what the others were. The general consensus is that it's actually overall a horrid conversion as it waters down the flavor and feel of the Dark Sun setting, but there's a few people who prefer it. Most tend to get what they can from it (no matter how infantessimally small) and mix it into their campaigns.

5. Welcome to the community.

I'm having issues making City by the Silt Sea a challenging module for 3.5.

What parts of it? Just about everything within that adventure can be tailored and tweaked to accomidate any level of play, from low to very high. You just have to stop trying to convert the numbers and stats as a hardcore guide, and alter a few levels, add a few more encounters, and have a few of the more potent adversaries play a little less nice with the PCs (Mon Adderath and Absolom being two that come to mind; have one or the other introduced early on and tial the PCs, wreaking subtle havoc on the party). Adjust things to fit your party, not to be a carbon-copy conversion from 2e to 3.5.

Thanks gents. I'm one of the few that like Dragon, but I haven't had a chance to peruse those articles fully.. just a glance. I'll take a look at them and also Athas.org.

Of course, they are:
  • Borys - The Wanderer's Journal, p. 89;
  • Kalak - City-State of Tyr, p. 71;
  • Abalach-Re - Forest Maker booklet, p. 13;
  • Hamanu, Nibenay, and Lalali-Puy - Beyond the Prism Pentad, p. 26-27.
